Default Game freeze on Night battle that unit cannot fight

    Here's a new headache....

Playing as KoJ and have had a contingent of knights waiting outside an Armenian castle to help defend them against Great Seljuks. Waited about 10 turns, when the attack finally came in the form of Seljuk siege.

Now, on Armenia's turn, they sally out at night. My general shows ghosted as a reinforcement in the battle pop up as he cannot fight at night. If I choose to fight it out in battle mode I get a CTD.

SO I tried to choose auto-resolve and the game just sits there forever like this, frozen, although the rivers keep running and the music keeps playing. I can even scroll around, though not with the mouse, keyboard only.

I cannot retreat out of it either, game is broken at this point. Any ideas??

    Here I've found this:
    Battle crash, many units together
Q: The mod crashes when a lot of units fight in a very small area.

A: If too many units fight in a small area M2TW is unable to handle this and crashes (this often happens in castle sieges). Reducing the unit size can prevent this.
Maybe that's the source? Just retreat some of your units or play that part of game (I mean, everything what is related to that siege)...

There are a ton of units there, true, but I've never had a problem dealing with 5 stacks of Mongols before for example.

Are you sure this is not related to the night battle?

But I cannot retreat, nor can I move anywhere. I can't do anything but choose to fight the battle on map or autoresove. I am not at war with the Seljuks, only put the troops there so if they attacked my ally, I would back them up.

I would simply disband the units but there is a general there -- which cannot be disbanded! I can try to go back a save, declare war on the Seljuks, and initiate the battle myself, during the day maybe....

    In a castle siege?

No, I'm not. I don't think I have ever had such a problem. But too many units may be the cause...

Well, yes, but you can't go back few turns and not send troops in there?

Ok, went back to save just before end turn, and just declared war and attacked myself. Battle played out fine so definitely not from too many units (since everything was exactly the same, all units in same positions). Only difference was that instead of waiting for Armenia to sally out at night (which my general could not fight -- see image), I attacked first, during the day.

Either some bug related to not being able to fight at night, or too crowded, units can't move?

    PS.
You can see how badly outnumbered we were... worse, during the day when they're reinforcements could arrive, and there is another army there which also joined in. Amazingly we prevailed! Was an excellent battle. All generals and captain had died, barely eeked it out. I had 1 Guard of Jerusalem left, and 5 veteran Norman knights. Some 3,000 men dead in all.

Now, the Seljuks are coming for real, with stacks of armies as far as the fog of war can see. Horrifying!
