Names for Rebel Factions 1.4

A simple idea and a simple mod. Give the Rebel Factions names.

1. Download the first and second attached files and extract it into your Program Files/SEGA/Medieval 2 Total War/mods/SS6.3/data/text and override all current text files.

2. Play! Compatible with all saved games.

Also, backup files, if something goes wrong with these files you will not be able to enter the campaign.

Here is what the Rebel Faction names have been changed to:

{Flemish_Rebels}Comté de Flandre/Communes flamandes, I said this in french, simply because the french and german was the two diplomatic idiomes for Flandre.
The english idiome was very important for this court but the englishs hadn't real volunty to dominate culturally the Flandres.

{French_Rebels}Communes françaises/ or you take one big french faction according the time frame: Armagnacs, or their enemies the Bourguignons for 15th century its perfect.
Or the most simply "Ligue féodale" to mean that the french barons had signed one promise to limit your power, or worth...

I dont think greek rebels should be called latin crusade, the most obvious reason being that it didnt happen till 1204. But otherwise great work, would rep if I knew how =/

It will be a very small file so i would suggest to attach that file to Your initial Post. There´s an "manage Attachments" button below if You reply or edit a post in advanced mode. A new window will pop up and everything should be self-explaining. I guess external hosters are needed if the file is much bigger.

Thanks, I am currently trying to get a file up that changes the faction name (that you see in the relations screen and in between turns) 'Rebels' to 'Independent States'.

{Bulgarian_Rebels}Empire of Bulgaria

During 1100 the Bulgarian were under the rule of the Byzantines, so for the early campaign you could rename them to something like Bulgarian Remnants (Star Wars much haha), Bulgarian Rebellion or Uprising.

For the late campaign (1220) they actually had a very stable and strong Tsardom. So it's clear what their name should be.

Will change the name of the faction from 'Rebels' to 'Independent States' and will change any 'Rebel' pop-up text to 'Independent' (Example: From 'Rebel Army' to 'Independent Army')

Trust me I won't until I have a name for all rebels! (instead of 'Independent Nobles).

I just finished a personal mod for myself that adds Judaism. I may release to it the public soon.

The Fatamid, in those time frames, had manly trouble with Berber rebels or semi-independent cities under military officier ruling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatimid_Caliphate

The Polish rebels, according to the time frame and this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland the rebels should logicaly be the Golden Liberty, sometimes referred to as Golden Freedoms, Nobles' Democracy or Nobles' Commonwealth.

Scot rebels: usualy, they would not rebel. But sometimes, a clan would rally it's members and form a Rebealle Clann, a rebel clan in the Scot language.

Spanish rebels: excpet for maybe having Basque rebels in the north-eastern castle (usualy rebel or under Aragon rule, don't remember the name)

Hi FabianScarus. i ike your work. One thing though..."Communi Liberi" is better for italian rebels...cause "Commune" is singolar one besides "liberi" is plural..

One question. Which part of the file expanded is modified in the submod? Cause i'd like to merge it with others ones...

expanded.txt changes their overall faction name from 'Rebels' to 'Independent States' and changes all 'popup' texts 'such as armies and cites.
