Default A few trait and ancilliary questions

    Hi all,

I've been trying to figure out this tutorial: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=257175 , but without luck. It is written very vaguely without any explanations for relatively new modders like myself, and since nobody is replying to my questions in that thread (been asking since October), I thought I'd try asking here.

The tutorial says that you need to make certain traits available only to faction leaders, but it says nothing about how to do this. So...

How do you make certain traits available only to faction leaders?

Actually... This whole tutorial is difficult to understand. It talks about 'removing all traits that give authority due to succession'... How can I see this? How do I know if traits do this?

What I really need (and I'm sure I'm not alone here), is a simple step-by-step tutorial that simply tells us EXACTLY what to edit, and in which files, in order to get new faction heirs, because the above tutorial is not helpful.

PLEASE somebody give me something that will ease many months of frustration on this subject.

To make traits/ancillaries availible to only faction leaders you need to create a trait in the character traits file, (with relevant connectives to the text/vnv's file) and a trigger that follows the IsFactionLeader conditional. In short it will only trigger if a character is the faction leader. As for the heir choosing. It's a simple case of having the most authourity. So give the relevant characters the relevant authourity traits through Descr_strat or simply create a transferable ancillary that triggers on the current heir apparent using IsFactionHeir at the end of the first turn.

Didn't read the whole thing but as for this just assign an extra condition in your trait trigger that is:-
    Code:
    IsFactionLeader
    Code:
    IsFactionHeir
And only they will get it.

CA's scripting Docudemons. Just scanning the conditions file would have shown you exactly what you wanted to know. It's an invaluable resource which I think really should be stickied.

I know they are in Ultimate Docudemons, which is stickied, but the original files are much better for me. Ultimate Docudemons is fine if you don't script much, or use 2 screens, or enjoy alt+tabbing for some odd reason, and if you don't mind not being able to see as much of the text in one glance. But notepad++ can have more than one view panel, so basic text files that contain what you need to know in order to script are easy to work with.
