DLV Custom Battles questions

I have 2 separate questions. If anyone knows the answers, please let me know. If I'm missing these answers from somewhere else, please redirect me.

I've been playing DLV for some time but have been skipping over playing custom battles.
1. As it turns out, my current DLV installation CTDs when trying to start a custom battle.
Is this correct DLV function?

2. In playing Scenario Battles through DLV, are we enjoying the AI of DLV, or is the game 'windowing' us through to the basic vanilla AI for playing scenario battles?

2b. IF Scenario Battles are being served to us using vanilla AI, what is to be done to make them rely on DLV AI? I'm reluctant to modify my base vanilla files, but if I were to do so, how to do it properly?

Yeaaaa... Thought so. Been broken so long I forgot about it. Now I'm trying to clean up that mod and I'm like. "Oh, that.."

The birch is, it's not kicking back any errors for me to follow.
