Russia under-rated?

What do you think? They are under-rated or are they just crap?

Well, I don't think they are under-rated, but I don't think they're crap either. I think they are an okay faction, not great. Their strength lies with melee and cavalry, while their regular line is alright. On certain maps they can definatly be great, but overall I don't think they merit an equal rating to Prussia or Great Britain.

Na russia pretty much suck. The only map I use them on is pyranees peak because they have no snow fatigue and you can force the enemy to run uphill under unicorn fire which drops their morale to such an extent that a massed downhill bayonet charge can cause a chain riout. The problem with russia is that the main workhorse of any army in NTW is the line infantry and their muskets and the russians cant shoot for toffee. The cav is decent enough but not as good as french, and worse value guncav than sweden. Unicorns are generally over priced and although capable of doing heavy damage, they will be outshot by howitzers if in range and for the price of one battery you could get 2 line. Unicorns seem popular with noobs because they can use them against other noobs who are too retarded to actually attack.

Russia is fun to use if you don't want to use the standard factions (brits, prus, france) I like just meele rushing with russian militia for some fun ^_^

Their artillery is some of the best. I don't really think they can be used effectively in a 1vs1 but in team matches they are an asset on any map that isn't grassy flatlands.

I love russia alot 1v1 and in team games and have beaten some good players with them, i think they are underestimated but like any faction it is all about how u use them.

Kiting is the problem I have with facing players on Grassy with Russia. It's a legitimate tactic but Russia is just so bad at dealing with it. Even with quite nice cavalry they take heavy losses in troops in large funds facing against Prussia, Austria, France, Britain, and Portugal.

Basically If we are talkin about fighting on flats. Then I would say that the following factions are without doubt better than russia (in order): Prussia, Britain, France, ottoman, Portugal, Austria and Sweden. Spain are on a par. This leaves only Holland and Denmark. If you look at the stats and cost of each factions important units (Guards, Line, Light inf, Lancer and guncav) then I cant see how anyone can disagree. Lets face it, the 1 unit that everyone takes most of, is line inf and russias line has the joint worst shooting stats in the game while being more expensive than most line (bayonets are not a serious weapon on flats) So, to answer the initial question, no, in my opinion, russia are not underrated.
