Default Do you believe in different 'stages' of humanity? Is religion actually right??. Opinions will clash

Do you believe that one day, humankind in its current form will change or that there have been other stages that have gone before us?

In classics we learned about the mythology and all that and about the golden age of man and everything else after that. And the last one, the iron age is our current one. Sounds like us alright. Now the bronze age. Neanderthals much? hard and violent people and not as 'smart' as us. Hence less sophisticated tools and society. The earliest humans aka golden age people lives off the land directly without 'harnessing' it. Eating fruit off trees and basically doing no work. Very similar to apes and other animals. No other life form works as hard as us to prepare food. And as you go down the people rely less and less on man made tools.
This generally suggests they were probably stupider and possible that they were satisfyed with what they had. Now as you get closer to present times, tools and human inventions have become increasingly popular. Now this may be because either an increased intelligence or that we have become more selfish and greedy (no longer satisfyed with picking apples off one tree, you start farming. No longer saisfied with apples you hunt animals with an atlatl. Atlatls are hard to use and not very efficient. The bow is invented and makes hunting even easier etc) Maybe the increased intelligence has caused us to think about consequences and in turn self assurance. eg "We have 10 loaves of bread to last this winter. It might not last. Bugs or animals may eat it and we will starve. Better steal a few loaves of bread from out neighbours just be sure"

There are other beliefes of the different ages of man and of course these changes have happened thousands of years ago at the least. So people living in the time of the ancient romans would have been classified as the same as us.

Now i dont have much evidence as this is something i have just thought of today and i have never considered myself a religious type person but after learning about different religions i have notices that they are pretty much all the same. Anyway this whole thing just shifts me closer to the 2012 thing. Most of the 'previous humans' were wiped out because of the lack of religion. Now 'iron age' humans are selfish. Religion over the years has worked like this "Do this and this and you will go to heaven, but do this and you will go to hell." Basically it takes advantage of our selfishness and everlasting need to live a better life. These days religion i would say is losing influence. I go to a catholic school and basically no one is a 'true' believer. Churches are full of old people. Everyone below like 60 or 70 is too busy or sleeping in or cant be bothered. No one is afraid of going to heaven or hell. Dont know about other religions but from what i see, western society is pretty much religionless and the majority of people who claim to be are phonies.

? We develop tools because our life needs tools to maintain, which directly relating with the increasing of population hence natural resource cannot support the population naturally. Those have nothing to do with greediness, stupidness or whatever.

Survive and efficiency are two things for a specie to survive in this tough world, no other reasons.

The ancient greeks certainly defined the way we look at history as "stages". This is what "bronze age", "iron age" and "middle ages" and so on are based on, not just prevalent material for tools and weapons. Those researching the history of society use terms like: Hunter-gatherer society, agricultural society, industrial society, information society. Again stages, just from another viewpoint.
Most historians even use the terms "Viking age" or "Dark ages"; What is called the middle ages could with that logic easily be divided into the "Crusade age", "Mongol age" and "Black Death age".
What I am saying with this: Historical stages are just how we in the present interpret history. Noone ever said: "Today we leave the Bronze age and enter the Iron age". I don't believe that a major change will happen in the next couple of years based on these "stages".
Btw, I am religious, I attend ceremonies and I am not a "phonie" (I do own a phone)
