Installation Help!

hi everyone.. i had given up on SS about a year ago(i had played it too much) so i decided i would reinstall it. I've downloaded both of the 6.3 choices. the first one that has parts 1-5 is a bin file and my media player wont run it. so then i downloaded the second choice that is like 1.1,1.2,2.1 etc.. and that doesnt work. it says i dont have the proper installation program. id really like to be able to play ss again but it wont let me install it. any thoughts?

Download the .exe file as well.

i know i probably sound like an idiot or maybe im just being an idiot due to my frustration but which file are you referring to

From the first post:

Setup: Filefront or MegaUpload (3mb)
(needs all of the following parts [the bin files] in the same folder to work)
SS 6.3 Part 1: MegaUpload (596mb)
SS 6.3 Part 2: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 3: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 4: MegaUpload (599mb)
SS 6.3 Part 5: MegaUpload (66mb)

No the .exe file is in the links that I highlighted in red.

im on a vista if that matters. ive already downloaded that file and its a bin and wont work. when i go to download it the "open" option is to open it in media player. i know i am supposed to save it(which i did the first time). i dont want to waste anothert hour and have it not work so whats wrong?

If it's the 3mb file, try renaming it as .exe and try running it.

Go into windows explorer, find the file, right click on it and choose rename from the popup menu.

the window opens then instantly closes...

Did you save all the files in the same place?

0. Make sure UAC is OFF.
1. Uninstall MTW2 and Kingdoms.
2. Restart your Computer.
3. Install MTW2 to somewhere on your main drive (usually C drive but NOT in program files. So like C:/games
4. Install Kingdoms to your MTW2 game. (this includes patch 1.4 already)
5. Optional but recommended cause its short and doesn't hurt: install patch 1.5 (downloads found here:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=96588)
6. Now your ready for SS, yay!
7. Open your 6.3 download folder on your desktop and run ss6.3.exe (follow the directions, and point the installer to your C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3 or whatever install of MTW2).
8. Now run ss6.4.exe from your desktop. Point it at the ss6.3 mod folder found here: C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3 and follow the installer.
9. Enjoy a wonderful mod!
10. Get addicted

i wrote these...but in case its not clear...Install mtw2 (non ss) and kingdoms (non ss) to somewhere other than Program Files, should read like this

C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War instead of C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War

then: when you install SS, the installer will do the rest but the location should be: u still point it at the mods folder...but the installer should do it for u

C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3 instead of C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\SS6.3

this is recommended for win7/vista users.
