ok that's it the hole weight thing is driving me nuts over 30 hours on this model and it just wont export i even tried exporting getting an error message and weighting the vertices one by one.
the other thing i dont get how do you know which verts go where, what i mean theres a vert at the bottom (front) of the dress that isnt left or right so what bone does it attach to,
is the abs bone his actual abs then where is the pelvis,
and when it came up with 0 verticle not weighted i looked in the weight table and it is weighted,

theres to many holes in my knowlage here and lifes to short and as im doing everything on my mod myself i cant put more time into this,

so again if anyone has profs tutorial 4 id be most greatfull (ive pmd prof no joy there)

alternatively if anyone would like to do some modeling(titter ye not) for me that would be fantastic (if a lack of software is a problem pm me)

or contribute (think satanic) models

I would scrap the skin modifier you have and reskin the entire model. Its really not that hard. Hoggy over at totalwar.org had a skin modifier tutorial I think. I'll look for it. Also, no part of the model needs to be attached to the abs. verts that should be attached to the pelvis are the waist line verts. And the error messages rarely give the correct vert as being improperly weighted I find. its best to just look at the model bone by bone making sure all the verts on the model at attached to a bone. Skinning shouldn't take long. On average its not more then 15-20 mins to compeletely reskin a model.

i don't intend to give up really, but short term this is a drag i never thought that 3dmax would be so (what we in the industry call) clunky
considering the amazing stuff it can do,

Is it the shape of the shield that changes or the texture? Assuming it is the texture, re uv map it using a plannar map. Most likely when you edited the shield vertices you condensed some area of the uv map and elongated others, resulting in a twisted shield emblazon.

(he is also said to be a civitate at the twc but that is doubtfull)
