I flicked through it and closed the video when it claimed that there was 'no reason' to continue burning fossil fuels. Yahright.

First movie made me think "a bunch of crazies" after the first part. I loved the speech about the all powerful god needing money. But the other 2/3 was just silly. Addendum wasn't so crazy though. Just overly optimistic. The movies are delusional but still good food for thought.

Dude, seriously, what do you have against art students. This is the second time you've insulted us. Did an artist steal your girlfriend?

Anyway, the venus project has more to do with design (art's whorish, slutier, younger sister).
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are so certain of themselves, but wiser people are full of doubts.

Okay, so it's the same guys. I've heard of The Zeitgeist Movement before, here and there, but never cared enough to actually look into it. Saw the first film, some of it I already knew about, some were interesting theories, but most was conspiracy theory . The film takes itself way too seriously.

Yea, and its unfortunate, but I take solace in the fact that these people still operate at the fringe, despite their popularity on 4chan.

Please don't call the Zeitgeist people "futurists". They are not classic futurists nor are they modern futurists. Modern futurism I associate with people like Ray Kurzweil or Lawrence Lessig; people that are basically technological optimists. Modern futurists like Ray Kurzweil have a very different world view than this overly simplistic one of the zeitgeist people and I would hate for the term futurism to get co-opted by wing nuts.

I understand why one might call these people utopian futurists but, I really think since they are euphemistic conspiracy theorists first and foremost that that is how they should be referred to.

Not good food for thought if you investigate just about anything said in the movies and realise he gets just about everything wrong. I dislike religion as much as any other man but his criticism of Christianity was hopelessly flawed and so poorly researched.

Yeah it would be cool and all to live in a Star Trek type future where all that EVERY SINGLE HUMAN cared about was bettering themselves and everything around them, but sadly I don't think that will be happening any time soon. After all, something of this magnitude would require human nature to be perfected. Can that happen? That's a completely different argument... but I don't believe that is possible. I wouldn't even label myself pessimistic either, I just don't think you can "perfect" human nature to the point where we are all altruistic perfect beings. Not without some major genetic enhancements.... erm lobotomizing I mean.

The point is and remains, the current Economic system is evil and destroys lives and since we are hunter gatherers, we have to live a similar life but more advanced.

Umm a hunter gatherer system couldn't possibly supply food for ~7 billion people. For many reasons, which should be pretty obvious. Unless, of course, we kill off ~6 Billion people.

Simply put, either everyone would sacrifice any sort of life devoted to a specialized role in society in order to provide enough food, or you have to create a class of people that would do nothing but hunt and gather food all their lives in order to sustain society. Hmm... that really doesn't solve anything, now does it? Not to mention it's not really utopian....

No. In order for something like this to happen, we will need massive leaps in technology. So that's why I say nothing like this will happen soon. Maybe in the future, when the technology gets there. Yet, the fact remains that human nature would still need a major makeover.

This is a fascinating quote. Will save it

@ Whoever said something about Utopia is BullSh. I would like to point out that what you say is your opinion and not a fact

Furthermore if you are saying that anything they say in the documentaries is false then please enlighten us with some counter arguments, at least gain some credibility first.
