    Default Repubblica Fiorentina

    Repubblica Fiorentina
    COMING SOON!
Aim: To put the Republic of Florence into Stainless Steel 6.3 Early & Late Era Campaign.
Creating a more realistic feel in Italy while finally giving a voice and a place for the once great republic of Florence!.

Unit Roster: Florence will have a similar unit roster to that of other Italian states with less of the Elite units and will not come into its own untill gunpower is used, this means you will need to either use diplomatic skills or sheer weight of numbers to take control.

    [WIP Faction Description]
"The Republic of Florence or "Repubblica Fiorentina" was restored in 1197 after the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI died leaving Florence a rich trading town with a large population which started to produce churches and the best examples of Gothic Architecture Italy had to offer.
Surrounded by the republics of Venice, Genoa and the Papal States. Florence’s best chances of expansion if it wishes to keep the peace in Italy is to look east and with the religious strains due to the crusades between church & Islam there is no shortages of targets, or profits.
Although Florence does not have the military available to it that its northern states have available the republics pockets are deep, and her militia is both strong and dependable.
What the Republic of Florence needs is a strong leader to lead her to greater glory and maybe even dream of what has not happpend since the fall of the Western Roman Empire…..a united Italia!."

I would love to hear anyones ideas to what they would like to see.
Any ideas please message me i will look into it.

I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this and give there input.

I think Florence won't be added for obvious reasons: it's too small, Italy already overcrowded, other regions desperately need more factions. However, there was an idea to allow player choosing factions he wants to see - just like now you can choose early-late era with ss-setup.exe file. Don't know if anyone will make that possible. Quite a job it'll be

I know It would make Italy crowded but its not too small id say anyway.
as for for the ss-setup.exe i know they done it with the Latin Empire, maybe its an idea to do it that way.

It worked great with the Latin Empire mod which swaped them with the Crusader States for the late era.
i have messaged Johnglave (who made the Latin mod) about this mod with the hope he might help in creating this mod .

Curiosity piqued. What would be the difference between a Florent roster and the current ones in the area?
I see the better and approve; I follow the worse.

Maybe Florence could replace Sicily either throughout or just in late game, and either Aragon or HRE in late game could pick up Sicilian territories since from what I remember reading both factions where comming in and out of control of Sicily over a span of time.

If I played as Florence, I would recrtuit lots of assassins and send them out to kill the templars(crusader states).

It doesnt have to replace anything at the moment as remember there is an extra faction slot where Ireland was taken out at least thats how i remember it anyways
I think its a great idea, also if you had a list of 'optional factions' you could run with the setup, like sweden, ireland, florence, pisa (maybe?), flanders, bavaria, serbia etc the list goes on.
For the armies, i think florence would have to be heavily reliant on militia, not proffesional soldiers like northern states have. and really come into their own during the 14th century when gunpowder comes around.
I believe Florence would only work REALLY well if someone created a late game(1350/1400) like they used to have for RR.
But good idea all the same rep +

I was thinking maybe using Genoa's units and taking out the Genonesse crowbowmen making them millita based until gunpower so there be on the defensive from the northern states.
however maybe making trade in the region abit better to stand a better chance of lasting.
my main problem with making this mod is lack of time and know-how so everyone will have to have patience unless theres anyone who wishes to help, theres lots of tutorials so once i get some time ill start researching.

This'll sound nitpicky, but in the descritipn you say "Surrounded by the republics of Venice, Genoa and the Papal States."
Shouldn't that read "Surrounded by the republics of Venice and Genoa, and the Papal States."? Seeing as the Papal states is a theocracy instead of a republic?
Aside from that, this sounds like a great idea
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
What have the Romans ever done for us?? apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?
