CTD during siege battle

Playing as England - defender. One Knights templar, Two Dismounted Knights Templar (bronze shield), three Yeoman Archers and six Urban Militia (silver shield)...

Enemy is HRE - assaulter. they have one DFK, one Light men at arms, two militia crossbowmen, four Urban militia, two spearmen, one Trebuchet and one sergeant spearmen.

Battle goes well up until near the end when the HRE units starts routing (not all though, some are still fighting but a good 80 % of their survivors is on rout) and I have killed a good 60 % of their army...

The game crashes randomly during this battle, but always on this battle... (three times now)

system log shows one interesting 'file not found' just before crash... what is this file?

EDIT: on second thought, the system log isn't showing the crash... the clock is too early for that...

just realized something... could the RAM have anything to do with the random crashes? often, My game is around 1,5-2 GB of RAM when the crashes occur... I have 4 GB and W7 so I guess that it must take it's toll on the system...
