Right, French campaign in Europe, stormed towards Vienna, took it in a very, very big battle and I thought that the Austrians would make peace, like the victory conditions said it would.

Not only did they not make peace, they produced a rebellion of 3 full stack armies in one turn with units far superior to mine, what the hell?!

I liked the old rebellions of RTW and MTW2, where your Generals could get experience and traits WITHOUT dying!!!! ARRRGH

well, the ones in M2TW were more like traitors and rogues while in NTW its more like a revolt and uprising, and its the capital, most capitals wont like foriegn occupation, and the more troops you have in a region, the more troops the revolt will have.

weird that the austrians didn't make peace. To me they immediately signed a peace treaty (that I couldn't even refuse) after I took vienna. They actually sued for pace three times before that as well, offering pittance money that I refused immediately.

Really? I captured Vienna and Austrian Possessions in Itlay, hoping they would sue for peace. My mistake. They carry on attacking, and 3 full stack armies are produced from some ungrateful peasants.

When I played the vanilla campaigns, the Austrians did change to Peace after I took Vienna but that does not stop rebels attacking - even if you are at peace with the formal state/government. Check out your war/peace status with remaining Austrian cities and armies, not the Austrian "Rebels" with whom you will always be at war.

In any case (if you don't completely destroy them), Austria will be at war with you again a few turns after, as Prussia will enter the war because of a scripted event, and Austria will follow their ally (unless, I guess, Prussia entered the war before you took Vienna, which never happened to me, but I heard can happen).
