Default CTD: On first victorious battle

Has anyone else reported this issue, or is it just a coincidence?

I've started two Roman campaigns so far using the RTW.exe and everything has gone fine to begin with. I've been beaten up by the Carthaginians, and the Roman Rebels and lost cities etc.

Then the first time I win a battle, the battle ends, I click to return to the campaign and the game CTD's. It almost as if the computer is a bad loser.

Is there some script or something that might be triggerred by a victory that could be causing this?

I just experienced the same problem. I had lost 2 previous battles against the Carthaginians but when I won the next fight against them (attacked their city in northern italy), and pressed to go back to the map, I got a ctd.

    Any clues?

Well I found things improved after I had installed RS Patch 2.1a. See http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=405358

I still get an occassional CTD during a battle. Usually when things get really hectic and I'm clicking and scrolling around the battle map a lot. But its rare enough now to be just a moment rather than a game killer.

I've also noticed that sometimes during a battle I get the default 'windows fatal error' sound go off in the background, but usually nothing actually happens although I instantly freeze what I'm doing whenever I hear it just in case and hold my breath until the mouse starts moving again.

Well I'm playing RS2, and it seemed to work for me.

The other thing I've been told is that switching to using the Alex.exe or BI.exe (if you have those expansion packs installed) can reduce the incidence of CTD's.

Apart from that all I try and remember to do is save before every battle.

Yes, i think i did every possible things written on the forums of RS2 but still i got CTD in all the battles i tried to reduce the quality in video settings, the units to large or normal, changed the engines.... unistalled and reinstalled again from 0 everything i need... but i resign.

And it`s the best mod ever created..... that's really frustrating

I recently got a repeated CTD when trying to fight a battle against the Arverni in southern Gaul. The battlefield was heavily forested and I had the terrain and vegetation maxed for visual effect and my GFX card obviously couldn't handle the detail. After four attempts I turned everything done and managed to play the battle in the end.

I don't know. I'm using an Nivdia GeForce 9800 GT, which certainly isn't a top of the range card (as my son keeps pointing out) but it seemed reasonable for the price I paid. I think its more a case of setting ones GFX settings to within the limit that your card can handle, rather than whether the mod can be played at all.

My card is Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS, 512 RAM. I think you're right, i`ll have to see the limits...

It sims that after installed the 2.1 patch battles take place without CTD... I played few grand battles without a CTD, i almost have orgasm
