Default It`s good to be Epirus. :)

Ok, this is "funny"; Epirus` still drawing positive figures, the faction`s almost got more money than mine, although, admitedly they`re sinking into the red rapidly (or so it shows, cuz you never know when a random surge of money will come flowin in for them).

Now, JUST from what you can see - he`s got three units of indian elephants (36 full in all of them, I checked), that`s what - 10,000 mnai for recr. and 2,500 for upkeep? He`s got AT LEAST two fleets (1,500x2), and quite a garrison too in his capital city, and has won one teritory from the start. Now, how could he have recruited those war elephants (are they recr. at all for Epirus?- and where did he get 10,000 for each), or does he start with 3 (or more?) units? And how come he recieved such a major surge of funds at the start (or just after it) if he didn`t even disband his troops that would deminish his coffers instantly (elephants, fleet), nooo - the guy (AI) just got better at it, the laws of financial logic obviously ignored him. The only way this would prove logical is if his diplomates are absolutely ingenious, and the faction recieves a couple of thousand mnai each turn from every faction, or if he went berserk over Italy, taking, sacking, looting and then abandoning, but not likely (oh, you don`t have hordes in 1.2).

Someone enlighten me, please, explain a scenario where this works out.

every AI faction gets a huge boost of income if it ever gets too far in the red.

Well that's kind of weird isn't it? So, when I try to choke an AI faction with sieges/blockades I shouldn't let them drop below 0?

That`s a lousy way of compensating for a dumb AI. I take it it`s hard-coded? It doesen`t even make the game significantly more fun, just unfair and cheatful, although that can be overlooked slightly because the AI is really appauling (usually) in RTW.

Basically what you`re saying that, - theoretically - AI players have unlimited money. For example, I kicked out Epirus from mainland Greece, so he`s got two cities (Croton and Tarantum I think), with 3 full stacks armies (and I don`t mean 3 lousy pelastes-leavies armies), just patrolling around, the funny thing is that they don`t even attack Canae, although it`s not garrisoned - they just sit on their assess (ok, they occiasionally build a fort too), with unlimited cash.
    That`s not very fun.

I think it is all kinds of fun. What is the fun in attacking an enemy that is both significantly weaker than you economically, and not as adept at battlefield strategy? Usually it is the AI's population, and not their income, which limits their armies.

So I dread it when I try to assault carthage. Damn that city is massive, in my campaign as them it got up to over 40 thousand people within 25 years. and it was still growing.

I agree. I'd much rather fight the enemy on the battlefield as opposed to choke them to death economically. It's much more beautiful to know that the enemy cheated, and you still won, rather than know that they didn't cheat, and you utterly crushed them. IMO anyway.

We are working on a more nuanced system for future versions, but without cash, the AI factions become helpless.

I don't know how much it's possible to be achieved due scripting but... if it's possible maybe a script that would prevent AI to go bankrupt would solve things (what I mean is a script that should signal the AI that the balance spending/income is a negative value and force it to disband troops or better prevent it from building troops that would have as a result negative balance).

Can't force disbanding or force it to recruit or build anything, AFAIK. It makes its own decisions on those things. Giving it cash is about the only practical thing to do here.
