How do I survive the first few turns?
I've just installed this mod and I'm really impressed with the improvements, but I'm just having real problems getting to play the Imperial Campaign as Rome because I can't survive long enough to develop decent cities and armies.
I've actually turned both the campaign and battle AI down to Easy now and still I get swamped by the nearby AI factions in the opening stages. I've tried being passive and taking a defensive stance but that only seems to buy you one extra turn of survival.
Carthage has a huge army with mega-elephants that simply stomp everything under their feet and wipe me out in Southern Italy.
Greece has an army on Sicily with multiple phalanx's of super-spartans that wipe me out in that place.
The place where I've had a small amount of success was in Northern Italy where the Guals at least seem capable of being driven back. But it cost me my entire army and most of my best troops to save one city and in the opening stages of the campaign they cannot be replaced due to all my cities being undeveloped hovels with no industry whatsoever, and now there is a fresh Gaulic horde descending on my northern cities.
So, how does one get to play the game beyond say turn three.
