    SOULSONS CAMPAIGN AI IMPROVEMENTS FOR SS V1.7


    This is now a "open beta" for the public to try. This will always be a work in progress as I don't plan on leaving it anytime soon.

    Feedback is welcome.

    Thanks to XAI for autoresolve and also Savage where ever he may be for his CAI in which mine is based upon
    Thanks to initial beta testers:

    Just extract to data folder and restart campaign. Check out the read me as well only takes a minute.

    Aiming for a more balanced, challenging, smarter AI and campaign.

    V1.0 / 1.1
    AI now needs poor relations to invade if not neighbour. No more random wars
    Removed unnecessary defense params for rebels.
    Changed Defense params for human both allied and neutral/war neighbour and non
    Changed invasion params for rebels.
    Changed invasion params for catholics
    Altered peace requests
    Altered invasion decisons
    Pope Won't invade rebels
    Trusted Allies help more.
    Changed Rebels defense.
    Added new backstabbing rules
    V1.2
    *Worked on alliances and other small fixes.
    V1.3
    *Alliances should be fixed.
    *Also made the Islamic factions like eachother a bit more.
    V1.4c
    *Alliances now work differently. Catholics wont want to ally with anyone besides Catholics. Islam works the same way. Orthodox factions can ally with pagans(this is AItoAI not human).
    *Overall less alliances.
    *Changed invasions params for weak countries to keep small factions from fighting big nations who aren't at war.
    V1.5b

    Reworked everything from trade and map info to invasion ect;
    *open beta as usual;
    1.7
    * Fixed coming of age bug
    *adjusted alliances
    *adjusted invasion decisions.

    Not tested and meant for use in conjunction with BYG mod.

    Intended for VH campaign difficulty.

    If this is compatible with 6.4 I'd be more than happy to give it a whirl. I've never been a Beta tester though, so if you could tell me exactly what details are most important to you I'd be more than happy to provide them.

    Yes it's compatible with any version of SS. The second file is the campaign_db file which, to my knowledge, isn't compatible with BGR.

    Sounds like a good project soulson - I've had to cut down on time spent at PC for various reasons so not able to do beta testing.

    You have a whole lot of script errors. Nothing on my part as far as I know. Start a new campaign and try the campaign_ai_db file first.

    Alright, I've replaced just the A.I. file and I'm getting no CTDs. I'm going to start my game as Denmark on VH/H, short campaign.

    Not save game compatible. I want players to start a new campaign. I also prefer players to play on VH but H is ok as well. When using Savage AI on VH, often random countries would declare war and I want to make sure I fixed it.

    EDIT: Could use a few more beta testers.

    My current campaign as Denmark on VH/H. I've managed to get the southern and north eastern parts of Scandinavia under my control and I've pushed Norway (My only enemy) into their little northwestern corner of the map. So far I've had no RAEG-inducing declarations of war and I'm enjoying it so far.

    Curious to know how everyone feels about Rebels. If programmable, would you prefer they hide out and not want to attack or be aggressive? Also, concerning the Romans, did they have a lot of allies? I'm not much of a historian but I could give them their own ai_label as it is in the campaign_script and make them loaners. The more feedback the better and the reason I'm asking about the Romans is because there has been so much talk about them.

    You said in your OP that there are new backstabbing rules. Could you elaborate a little bit on how backstabbing in this differs from Savage AI?

    Savage AI basically doesn't have any backstabbing rules. What I did was enter a random chance of your allies attacking you if your relations drop.

    I suggest to gives Rebel a bit more of agressivity. They have to do something, not only defending their settlements but to gives some challenge to other kingdoms.

    CAI for rebels not that easy I suspect, as their territories are scattered all over the map, makes any coherent strategy impossible, unless they are down to a couple of nearby territories.
    The LTGD will search for five targets for attack and defence in a turn so how are the rebels to know how to prioritise any region or faction for attack or defence?
    At best one can hope for random acts of aggression, but they need a strong defence to slow down other factions' expansion.
