Default AI wars despite superfaction feature?

    Hello,

from what I read and remember wasn't there some super faction feature in place basically keeping all AI factions at peace to each other?
This seemed to work well so far but now that I am finally doing good progress in game I was surprised to suddenly get a message that a faction was wiped out (version 7, old map, installed the whole all in one pack, always have the garrison script running).
I went back into the past (savegame) and indeed the Greek were already laying siege to the remaining city of the Thrace people.

When checking the diplomacy tab it shows the Greek indeed made some enemies somehow. Also, they aren't the only faction which has enemies besides rebels and Romans.
I also received a message that one faction broke alliances with a few other, that faction (Scythia) shows neutral to me on the map.

Did my game get messed up or is the AI capable of taking enemy towns here and there?
Not that I end up with a Greek super faction at some point... Do I need to worry?

No. Not a big worry. Stuff happens.

In my 8.0 campaign I had Gaul and Carthage run roughshod over the Iberian rebels, then ally and play footsie with each other for about 40 turns. Currently, I'm taking the Iberian peninsula away from the Gauls (already have all the Carthaginian settlements)

...My point being, some things get weird sometimes.

Sometime depending on HOW you play can effect the AI in other nations, Basically it never hurts to attack Greece once in a while, otherwise they may eventually take one province and onces doing so can allow them to attack other factions as macedon is Greece's Buffer.

I say attack greece this will slow them down. Though the script is designed to prevent them from making too much progress. I am surprised this happened in your game as it shouldnt have been able to wipe out a faction so I think you did something wrong in your game or was this an old save?

Even if greece was at war the script should MAKE them friends again so I would say you might have forgot your script which would prevent the script from fixing the problem. While there is a superfaction fix without the script, its the script that really ensures no superfactions. I have done alot of tests and what you described shouldn't have happened IMO. War with scythia should then next turn be made peace if you are NOT getting these messages your script is NOT Active which may have been the problem, you thought it was active when not, thus allowing greece to spread. Always double click the question icon to make sure because sometimes you can click it, and it doesnt activate.

    Saienga,

Gaul and Carthage are agressive and without buffers, so I am not surprised with yours, but what he said was Thrace was wiped out, this shouldnt have happened. I say play a new game with 8.0 and not use 7.0 saves.

Well, at first I worried, now I actually like it as things spiced up! Quite a few factions broke their alliances. Instead of going back to peace, some even declared war! Gauls are now attacking Germans so finally after soooo many tiring battles they leave me alone and I can even finish turns without another Gaul fight, they completely lost interest in me. Have a look at Greece's relationships ("Feinde" = enemies), quite strange:

I always double click the script button as this messed my savegame up once in the past and threw me forward to 260 A.D. or something.

I'm still on SPQR v7 with a matching savegame and the year is 164 B.C., so at least judging by the year the script seems to be ok. However, I now noticed some towns no longer stack up garrisons each time anymore when I approach them, so maybe something did break.
Yet I'm so far into the game, it finally starts to be very rewarding and even more fun (surprisingly just received Marian reforms too). Not that it was not rewarding before, but more exhausting.

Thanks for the hint about the Greece, I did wonder whether I should give them a visit, their advancements are worrying:

So far, I left them alone as I feared I could "trigger" a more constant war (they never attacked anymore except in the early beginnings).

Though I currently like the state of my savegame world, it allows me spending more time on the map.
