    Default Droppers

I see this game is still full of droppers... I just played a 1v1 rated months after taking a break and my very first game the guy drops after he's dying

LeatherNeck if anyone is wondering... I wasn't even winning that decidedly.. I just finished off his Duke of Wellington and was concentrating on keeping my two artillery alive...

Does anyone know if Shogun 2 has fixed this? Broken Multiplayer is what took me away from Napoleon Total War...

I miss the good old days when ppl would lose a match and simply say... wow, nice match... or just a basic gg..

As dropping is a personal choice..and we know little about the new mp..i doubt it, as the droppers will always find a way to do it.

But it would be nice to at least re-implement the Ai control system if a person drops.

I've seen some gameplay/commentary of Total War: Shogun 2 and they said they can't do nothing about rage quitters or droppers other then that if they leave a match three time, they get a dishonorable badge. So every time you host a match and you see a player with that badge, you can decide to allow them to play or not.

that is certainly a huge improvement and i hope there isn't a workaround that.

anything on a resign button? i'm sure some of the people just want to resign but don't have the patience for their whole army to be taken down.

well what happens on day 3 when 80% have a dishonour badge

seriously - what about desync's and game crashes - if these are included everyone will have badge in the first week - if they arnt included players will just pull the plug.

a resign button is a good idea. and what about tooltip roll over next to stars in the game setup menu which indicates a players stats like games played ranked and unranked, drops and left games. would not be to hard i would think.

The machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire. Their war to exterminate mankind had raged for decades, but the final battle would not be fought in the future. It would be fought here, in our present. Tonight...

Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

That is actually in place, but only for team battles (and maybe only unranked, not sure).

I'm sure they're going to implement one, it's the obvious solution. Why the NTW Quit button doesn't work as an honorable Surrender is beyond me.

The badge will not work on absolute numbers, but on a started:finished ratio.

Its already been breifly stated above ^ but I think there should be a 'Surrender' button like in Starcraft 2.

When you are guaranteed you are going to lose, you simply say 'gg' and surrender. The other person wins and you continue on.

Also after the game there is a score screen and the option to save the replay which is nice because you dont have to worry about quickly saving the replay before the opponents leaves, etc.

Seriously, Shogun 2 should just copy basically everything from starcraft 2 and just make a 'total war' style version.

I think this is how it should be, so if someone drops like more than 30-40% you know to be suspicious. Maybe they can further advance it by saying how much of the time you drop when you're losing. The estimation for win/loss in NTW isn't that great but it's some sort of an indicator.

    hi

this is really rediculous , i was wondering why i couldn't get my score up in empire multi.

now i just bought napoleon today people where much much more rude and i started 4 battles till now i lost none but won 1 and the rest were pulled before finished 2 without even much fighting.

now my stats say i COMPLETED 4 battles and lost 3. what the hell?

    come on !!!!!!!!!!!

why doesn't steam at least count battles as uncompleted???

i was looking forward to starting anew the ranking with the benifit of empire experience.
this is really souring the experience for me.

god i hope shogun 2 has a better way of grading performance.
Patriotism is Indeed a Double-Edged Sword

Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind . . .
And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear
and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so.

I think simply quitting is a better alternative then having to implement a surrender button.

how so? If you leave a ranked game, it will end the match for your opponent also, and he cannot save replay/view stats. The surrender button could easily fix that.

Btw I must say, weirdly enough I've had really good experiences with Quick Battles; can't think of a single one where my opponent pulled.

well personally i find it easier to just not play ranked games and try to get some m8s to play with or join a respectable clan, i find i dont get many droppers or pullers unless 1v1 so maybe play some more team games would be good.

never been invited for a clan although my behaviour has been very honorable indeed.

by honorable i mean i always stick to the rules and never ever pull out no matter how bad it goes.
(well to be honest did it twice when the game was 3 units and we had two full armies opposing).

maybe im not good enough only win 2/3 or so..

i just about never play 1 vs 1 so dunno.
think its a riot to kick ass with team player(s) , much more enjoyable for me.

Yeah I agree with you on this, I make a point of sticking to the game and have held on for 20mins before (admittedly whilst playing PS3) waiting for an ally to finish off his enemy but it's just luck of the draw as to whether opponents or allies drop on you.
I don't understand why Steam doesn't just give you the points if your opponent drops (not get's disconnected) but this doesn't solve it when allies drop.

Guess a lot of players don't like playing against 1 or 2 star opponents. Very ironic with this broken ranking system anyway. If you want some good games from a fellow dutchman PM me your steamname and I'll add you to my friends list.

well thats the problem isn't it?

people should feel awkward behaving as unbehaved children.

or normal children in the todler age 3- 3,5 years.

already learned how to lie and cheat but not grown up enough yet to have had the experience of having had the receiving end of the stick.

the empathy only developes as those tricks are played at their cost.

and these people who behave themselves as todlers do so while fully grown adults/adolecents.
    very sad indeed.

one can see this kind of age regression with drunks in a somewa=hat lesser extend too.
people drink to much and don't consider consequenses anymore.
then things get said and actions taken that people normally wouldn't because of losing face.

only reason for this is the lack of the stick. (anonimity in the net users) forget the stick in drunks.

i think an introdution of a stick mechanism would be a very good thing.

one can now report a complaint about a user of steam to steam i have done this once after suffering particularly bad abuse. and it will do nothing i guess. and not ok if unknowns give judgement after such reports.

why not make complaints visible in your records to all users??
then people can see earlier complaints and judge for themselves.
    bit like in real life.

won't be an end to all but maybe it could turn the tide a bit.

( ip with the complaint maybe? to be somewhat shielded from complaint spammers , wich is probably inevitable )

any system without accountabillty is a bomb waiting to go off.
