Default Inability to play campaign on 1.42.

Initially I just had a bounce back problem solely with 1.42, but 1.41 did work fine with the translation.

After adding a registry from the suggestion of a fellow member, my game now just crashes and closes when I try to begin a campaign. Here is the system log and the contents of the thread where my original inquiries for assistance were posted.

You can use regedit to search for and delete the registry entry. Use notepad to look at the file, if you use a file to enter the registry. At least that will get 1.4.1 working again.

What directory are you installing COW in? If it is not the default directory, that can be the source of all your troubles.

1.41 was functioning fine until there was an unspecified error and now it closes whenever I attempt to begin a campaign.

I am installing it in the default directory.

As to the registry causing the crash, I tried it a couple more times. It bounced back every other time, so the crash may of been from something else.

Edit: This is irksome. My CTD's aren't consistent, as I'm now able to load up a campaign on 1.41

Essentially I'm using RedDwarf's torrent, then just plopping the 1.41 translation on it. Outside of putting it in the default directory, that is all the fiddling I'm doing with files now.

I checked the log and it was of no help.
But the bounce back after trying to select a campaign sounds like something is awful with the strat.
Also do you have steam? Sounds like it from what you said about registry editing.
My version is non-steam. But here is a link on how to use a steam registry tool. http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=410461

    To potentially solve this problem....
    1- Delete The Call_of_Warhammer folder
2- Re-extract the Torrent into the mods folder
3- If you are not going to update to 1.42 . Apply 1.41 English Translation patch(But only if not upgrading to 1.42)
4- If your going to upgrade to 1.42(Strongly suggested) Apply patch now
5- Apply 1.42 English Translation patch
6- If using steam. Before trying to launch game use Squids Steam Registry tool and follow Gigantus's instructions on how to apply them(Link above)

If the above dose not work repost and we will try something else.
    Hope this helps

Thanks Red and everyone else. I really appreciate the time you're taking in helping me with this issue.

I'll try this when I get home.

So far outside of the odd CTD, my 1.41 campaign has been doing alright. I turned off auto-save and the advisor chat, which I think is helping with stability.

Though I would like to play the latest version, so I'll give it a go this evening.

Windowless mode = 1, this has worked me too. Someone in another thread also mentioned on, not matter the version 1.3.1, 1.4.1, etc., CTDs for him were graphic related - that if there was too much going on it would result in CTDs. Once he turned this settings down, he had very few crashes. So if you have a laptop or older PC with less than 2 gigs ram, this could also be part of the problem.

For me, 1.4.1 played fine until I started loading other stuff in it, then it was crashing frequently. I got rid of the extras, it worked good and then started crashing frequently in the late game. But the CTDs were never gamebreaking.

I seem to be having the same problem with the bounceback every time I try and start a campaign, and have no idea what's causing it.

    Any word of a solution?

There is likely a problem in your install process. Make sure all your install steps (1.4, patches, translations) occur in the right sequence (1.4+1.4.1+1.4.2+English Translation 1.4.2 and all must be directed to the default directory - don't assume that they do). In addition, if you have the steam version, you need to attend to the issues created by this as well (see translation thread, towards the end).
