Hi i was playing gondor and attacked minas morgul when i started siege they had about 500 next turn they attack me and theres 5k inside. any 1 know whathappened and how to stop it?

It's called the garrison script.
For info on how to remove it just read the FAQ.

A: You have fallen victim to the Garrison Script. It is designed to help the AI protect its cities and make the game more challenging. Only the more important/famous cities and capitals have this script.

Out of curiosity does this script apply to AI attacking other AI? For example if AI Mordor attacks AI Gondor at Minas Tirith would Gondor get abunch of additional troops there?
Yes, that's sometimes a problem because stupid AI of course doesn't act like it and attacks with a small troop and gets horribly beaten and of course they don't learn and 10 turns later they try again and this way the stacks can multiply...
I prefer to look upon it as a "chaos benifit" cause it make the game take strange new ways and help a faction in need to turn the tide, when getting forces from a small siege-attempt to counter problem in other places.
Not always to your and your allies benifit but hey, the world is crazy and unpredictable, right?![]()

I certainly helped Gondor out in my game xD for some reason they keep losing battles to mordor though =\ like every battle I see them fight against them they lose.
Although its often the bane of my existence as I love landing a small force with siege equipment or a spy behind enemy lines to take a settlement quickly it certainly does add to the game. It's also made me very cautious before launching any attack at all against moria or umbar even though I'm right on their doorstep and so it makes these targets a lot more menacing and they bring about massive battles so I haven't takien it out yet.
easiest way to "cheat" the garrison script bring a catapult or two and wreck the enemy walls since the ai usually only leaves like 1-3 units as garrison you can take most of there lands with out any competition its how i am doing it as the silvan elves i am now the largest faction in the game because of this tactic
I don't get what you mean. Do you mean that the enemy usually leave most of their forces ont eh walls so you can jsut wreck the walls and take the army out or do you mean having your army on one side of the wall and a catapult and say some cavalary on another and when the enemy moves to take out your army you have your catapult make an entrance and your other unit to take the plaza?
He means that since the Garrison script doesn't kick in before you click end turn after sieging, bring a catapult lets you attack before the garrison script triggers. Makes it rather easy to take capitals and major troop production centers that are only garrisoned with 3 or 4 units.
Strange,in my case garnison script appears in same turn when I attack,with spy I infiltrate,he open gates but at same turn at attack when I click fight appers a huge garnison,much bigger then if I started with building of siege equipment,and I belive it will work in case if I will bring catapults.
Yeah I'm pretty sure the armies appear straight away for me as well.
Not for me, if you attack at once the script wont kick in.
The only way to take out Moria early, or you'll get pawned![]()

Pfff, I remember Moria. First time I played this mod was with the HE. Once i had discoverd Moria, I decided to take it and send my 10 star general there. I besiege the city and decided to wait it out. Pressing the next turn button and Im suddenly getting attacked by al full banner of Ootmm.. With a BALROG! Neadless to say my army was slaughthered.. and my 10 star general lay dead..
Pwnd them back though a few years later.![]()

The downside of this garrison script is that it isn't really realistic. Of course, city militia would come out and defend their city, but elite bugger pop out as simply as those 'metal' militia's. And to add: the garrison doesn't return in the city after a siege, what would be logical, but stays. So in effect, your enemy has an extra stack of hardcore bastards to crush your pathetic attempts to be awesome and conquer Middle-Earth... Or something like that![]()

Wont let medelete it any1 know why?
Does this problem occur with saving or changing the file? Because if you are saving the file, you must (with Vista) save to desktop and then drag the file into the folder where the original file sits in, and then overwrite.
