HORRIBLE lag on the demo.

So I thought the game looked pretty cool, decided to try it out, dl'd the demo and.. It's completely unplayable. It's so laggy that I had to alt-tab just to close it out, otherwise my computer would have just sat there in an endless loop. Setting everything to low netted me decent frames, but zooming in made it choppy again.

Specs:

6GB Ram.
Quad-core processor 3.2 Ghz (I5)
Windows 7 64-bit
ATI Radeon 5450

Is it just the demo being poorly configured, or is something wrong on my end?

Turn your monitor down to 1024 x 768, set it to Shader 2, ingame with the rest of the eyecandy off, then try it.

Well that clears up the framerate issue as long as I'm zoomed out, but even moving in close it lags. And it really substracts from this supposedly 'epic' experience when all of your soldiers look like squares. I'm more confused since according to the rec. requirements, I should be fine.
