i agree with the toning down of spain but samurai have no competition isnt true they have to fight the mings and as far as the flags go id say jus not having every man with one instead just a few here and there

I've considered that a good way to tone down Spain is to make Spain vassal to the Habsburgs. That way, the Habsburgs get some bonus money for fighting off the Ottomans, potentially making that war last longer before the inevitable Ottoman victory, and meanwhile, Spain finds its coffers reduced by half. Alternately, positively flood the new world with rebel stacks, since each tribe could field 1/3 of its population in the form of warriors.. and there were a lot of tribes. Or do both. Giving Spain less troops at the start and France more would also prevent the inevitable rise of Castile.
As for the samurai being overpowered... are you aware they're some of the weakest "elite" infantry in the game? Chinese Iron Men rip them to shreds, as do most good factions elites.

u can turn down the spain by setting the king purse of spain become low, or set king purse of the enemy of spain example France become higher a bit. it will make spain suffer a lot in early campaign.

id still like to see burma replaced with the inca or cherokee to give the spanish a hard time or you can start the game with spain at war with portugal to even it up in the americas also the samurai are good fighters but come in much shorter numbers than their ming counterparts so saying they are stronger isnt accurate plus in the games ive played the ming always invades them if not ally with them right away

the ai in this mod is not strong and scary enough, that y ming are not an scary opponent. The ai in warhammer is much more scary and strong.

I find that samurai are one of the weakest heavy infantry in the game. Virtually any other heavy infantry can cut a bloody swathe through them. Go ahead, try out in custom battle, one unit of Iron Men versus one unit of Samurai. They'll get devoured. If you're winning, it's because of strategy, because one on one, samurai are pathetic. Mughal Kshatriya even make mincemeat out of them, and they're outnumbered significantly. Just look at their stats. They're not particularly great or notable, and they don't have shields. 'nuff said.
Every unit type and particular Japan has, the Ming have one that's superior except for heavy cavalry.

It's historically accurate for samurai to be this weak, though. At this point the Samurai had had almost no actual experience fighting anyone else in the world. They weren't a tried and tested warrior against a variety of enemies like other factions have, their armor wasn't that great, and they didn't use shields. My favorite heavy infantry are Turkoman swordsmen, just because.
I'd pick Jagirdars if they were recruitable, though.

i think the ai needs to be improved too but anyway saying the samurai are superier is an understatement but they are a great faction none the less

if AI in this mod can be improve, Samurai is needed to win in strategy . because although samurai status are strong. but other faction, example ming and some european faction, they also are good in unit status. some are even more in def and same atk with samurai. but number of the soldier is sure can overnumber the samurai.

Spain is as strong as it is because during this time period Spain was very powerful. Rebellions in the American colonies wouldn't be historically accurate since Spain was able to maintain control over these regions by allying with various tribes, and by fielding European soldiers with superior armour, weapons, and horses. It wasn't until 1808 when Spain was conquered by Napoleon that there was a major rebellion against Spain in South America.

It is impossible to balance American natives with wooden weapons and no armour with Europeans with metal swords, muskets, and horses. The only advantage the American natives had was their superior numbers but once the Spanish were able to ally with the American natives and convince them to fight for the Spanish cause this advantage was reduced.

Regarding the samurai they're weak because they lack the heavier armour of Europe and China and don't have any weapons to combat heavily armoured infantry, such as maces, or heavily armoured cavalry, such as halberds. As BATUBATUBATU explained they weren't used to fighting a variety of enemies, so their weapons were more limited.
