FLAMETHROWERS! It's been a long time yet the dream is real! Plus rep for all involved!
@barsoom like I said in my opening paragraph the whole mod is a careful extrapolation on the lore (plate armor, crossbows, arnor, dale, rhun) what I'm doing here is going a bit further than that.
A fun part of tw is to have "what if" scenarios. What if evil factions were not challenged in time? They were obviously making technological advancements behind scenes, in an additional 50 years flamethrowers and early firearms could have been invented, is not that much of a stretch.
Either way I think it's better if this stays as a sub mod.
These units are a nice addition to the game, will you be making unit cards for these units anytime soon?
excellent work louix,maximun quality.
i think that king kong must add these units in a 3.2 third age.
do you make more units?.for example for mordor, thanks.
but i prefer classic weapons as swors, spears etc and not flamethrower and grenades for these units.
iam a purist of the lore and not like warriors with fantasy weapons or modern weapons.

uruk-hai with another helmet siege style.

@Louis Lux: That wasn't quite the point I was making. Or two points, actually. I was asking: why not combine with KK's and the other guy's units? And I was saying that one specific unit, the Beastslayers, could fit well with the main mod (because they don't seem to digress that far from lore). Otherwise I agree with you and I like the submod you're making as a submod.
Gaolers could use some kind of weapon, maybe perhaps be a ranged unit themselves, sort of like pavise crossbows or something like that IMHO.

They will have a weapon. It will be melee, with middling power and no special attributes.
I would see dwarves develop (or buy from trade) somekind of cannoncs and hand cannons.
And Timurid like missile launchers for Rhun.
Nice new unit mate! +rep
A potential theme in the Lord of the Rings trilogy is that industrialization=evil (Isengard cutting down Fangorn, perversion of elves into orcs, etc.) I think you have already thought this out though, seeing as only evil factions are receiving gunpowder/flamethrowers. Be careful.![]()
Some unit ideas!
A unit idea for the Dwarves:
Tunnelfighttroops
They are equiped with long shields and a one handed axe. It is not an offensive unit, they purpose is to block the tunnels of the dwarven cities, during the shooters attack the enemies from behind. So their attack stats are not high, but their defensive stats are nearly at the maximum. These warriors are perfectly trained for figths in close rooms and against superior number. In combination with the dwarven pikemen, they are a deathbringing threat for every opponent.

An AOR unit for Gondor:

For Mordor in Cirith Ungol:
Uruk-Hai of Mordor

For Rohan a special unit:
Rohan shieldmaidens
I know this idea were controversed argued before, but I think this could be a unit which contrasted a lot of other units and brings diversity to rohan rooster. I don´t want a whole female army overrun Isengard, it should be just possible to recruit a few bataillons!
And for Silvan elves an AOR unit in Mirkwood:
Elven Sworddancers
They are not just warriors, they are artists with their swords they could fulfill things which are just impossible for normal mortals. They perform in the celebration circles of Thranduil in Mirkwood and at the same time they are his elite attack unit, with the purpose to assassinate the enemy general or to shock the enemy troops. They have very high attack stats but very low defensive stats, because they are equiped with light leather armour and two small swords, so they have the maximum flexibility and quickness to make their awesome attacks.
Here is a concept I draw:

So I hope you will like the ideas, I think they could give the roosters of the respective factions more diversity and interesting tactical application possibilities.

I thought about a unit like that too (WoodElf Rangers), for Caras Galadhon, with added a short bow and few arrows. As they have 2 blades, they should be more defensive (skill, not armor) than 2-hand heavy weapon units but have less charge power.
Attack 14 +6; Short bow 11(150) with half or third ammo than bowmen; Defense 6+9+0

My small products here.
Hello,
here I go again!
Here is an unit idea for the dwarves:
Dwarven Travellers
They are a light infantry unit, armoured with leather armour and a cloak, the typicall suit for travelling dwarves. They are weaponed with a small axe and a mace.
Their purpose is to chase enemies, because of their light armour they could run very fast and have the famous dwarven endurance!
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
So hope you`ll like it too...
When I look at this I cant help myself but to think of the dunedains as some kind of cow boys, with pistols or rifle's.
And by that I mean Leones western's, nothing else, with a Clint Eastwood bad ass-cool kind of Aragon
Silly and still great (but not intended as a suggestion).

No mistake apparently, make a backup for sure
These Dwarves with enormous shields were also an idea coming to my mind when seeing the first page, they would quite good fit to the rest of the dwarven armies.
Another idea ( I am a truely Isengart fan) was to think of some other units with wargs. As Isengart rose in quite a little time in the Lord of the Rings and was first evil force to be defeated one can do some "what if" questions focussing on mounted Isengart units. Just thought of some missile warg unit or even a very rare, armoured unit of elite wargs for the later time in the game (Uruks as riders?!) - I know very streched thinking and I also do not want them in normal TATW, but maybe such a submod could be place for my lovely wargs?^^
Here is another unit idea, I have:
This is a heavy infantry unit for Dale:
Bard`s chosen Dragonhunters:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
They are weaponed with different types of weapons. Their first one is a Longbow and their secondary one is a long Spear, so that they are well equiped for the dragon hunt. On their back, they wear a long shield with spikes on the side and a big axe for giving the dragon the finishing stroke.
They have combined armour parts of different Dale units, the plate armour is the same as the one in the pictures below and the helmet is a combination of this unit helmets:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Under the plate armour they wear a wadded armour, like the one here:

This last unit is in fact a good idea in my opinion. I makes me think back on the 1.0 Dale units. There was an axemen-archer unit mixed in the roster somewhere and it might be a good addition for the current Dale.
