I never played E:TW or N:TW because I didn't want to bother with gunpowder.
However I figure I may as well try because my anticipation for TW:S2 is way too high now.
Is it worth jumping right into N:TW? Or is E:TW a better game?

Be real.
If you are trying to get a feel for how gunplay MAY work in S2TW then I'd say it would be closer to Napoleon than Empire, I dont think there will be rank fire for one. However I think units MAY fire slower in S2TW than Napoleon, Only time will tell I guess. Napoleon is the better game though If you wanted to know, with Mods like EIC or NOW and Total Factions it opens up many more nations to play as and new units for most factions. In saying that though, Empire is a great game but Darthmod is definately needed imo. Cheers Grund.
Okay thanks, I'll just do N:TW then. I was looking for some TW and the older ones are getting stale.
Also, is the DLC worth it? Also how many patches has N:TW gone through (so I know how many more downloads I'm going to have to do on steam lol)
Be real.
As far as I can remember it just downloads one update to bring it to the newest release.
As for DLC, it's completely up to you. The unit ones are only a couple of quid so you might aswell IMO, don't really affect the game though so its up to you if you can live without those few units. Peninsula campaign is pretty fun but probably not worth getting it straight away until you've played with the campaigns you already have.
Heck yeah, dive right in. It's a very fun game, and it can be challenging on VH/VH. The Peninsula campaign is very well done, but wasn't my cup of tea. But vanilla NTW is one of the best vanilla TW games to date. And I've played them all.
NTW is a sounder choice.
Better playability & pretty solid reliability.

NTW isnt difficult to get the hang of so yeah, jump straight in.
