Crash During Loading Screen

After downloading the 6.4 patch whenever I load the game it crashes without any errors to the desktop. Im using Windows 7. Also I disable UAC (well I believe I did I went to "change user account settings and moved the slide down to never notify) and that didn't fix it either. Any help is much appreciated.

Is there anyway I can do this without uninstalling, install outside programs, etc or is that the only solution?

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What I suggested is the easiest way...otherwise you might go through many steps and none will work

Windows 7 as two programs files; Program Files and Program Files(x86). Could I install it into the regular PF or are both "mod unfriendly"? And where would be the optimal place to install it outside of PF?

Both are mod unfriendly. Just make up a folder any where else. I put mine in E:\games, so you could do c:\games if you have just one hard drive.

I did all you said but know when I start the shortcut it says it is unable to locate kingdoms.exe.

The shortcut's properties are:

target:"C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Mods\SS6.3\SS_Launcher.exe"
start in:"C:\Games\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\Mods\SS6.3\"

Run SS_setup.exe first


edit:if that doesn't work, open default.cfg and post the contents, or just upload the file

I still got the same thing. Asking me to browse to the MTW folder. Doing so launches MTW so I set it the SS folder. Doing so leads to the "cant find kingdoms.exe".

Do you want me to replace everything under launcher with that or only that part.

I did it with only that part and it loaded MTW and crashed with a error. Except there was no description with the error.

Just that one line should be replaced. Check default.cfg again to see if it reset itself after you launched it.

Oh, and did you run setup again before you launched the game?

Yeah I only replaced the one line. I didnt run the setup again I'll try it that way.

I started it with the setup and got the same thing. It showed with kingdoms.exe and crashed. Like last time the error has no description.
