Default I hate grey mountains mumaks

Its pretty annoying to face mumaks as the elves, Dale or the Dwarves so high north. Its not lore realistic and not logical since they dont fit forest/broken terrain fighting. Mumaks are pretty tought to fight and its made worse when you encounter 5 units of mumaks and friends, in mirkwood!

I see how it would be hard if not possible to limit the AI use of mumaks, but atleast they need to be more costly to buy and maintain!

Ehm mumaks? Mumakils? They only exist in harad and the only one who gets to fight them is gondor. If you are talking about trolls however, use units with armor piercing attributes or use ballistas.

That's not entirely accurate. My last Eriador campaign I wiped the floor with Gundbad and bottled up the OotMM, and pushed Isengard back past the fords of the Isen, taking Orthanc and the Hornburg, and pushing south to the White Mountains. 10 turns out from my Arnorian Re-Emergence an invasion is called on Annuminas.

Three turns later a massive Haradhrim army is sighted at Bree with five units of Mumakil.

I have yet to determine how the slipped past all my border settlements without any of my men noticing.

That campaign was abandoned. As I was trying to grind down this massive Haradrim force with -no- Dunedain units of my own to contend with theirs, Easterling and Misty Mountain Orc armies came out of the Mountains as Mordor proceeded to march right inbetween the Hornburg and Orthanc on it's way North. I just didn't have the men, or the movement with said men, to catch the armies before they got into my now nearly defenseless heartland where Mumakils were running wild.

Point is, any faction can expect to fight them, and if you're not ready for them and/or can't recruit your big units (Wtf Fornost/Amon Sul growth rates?), you're boned.

Happened to me too. Orcs of the Misty Mountains sliped past the entire gondorian defence system, there is no way they could have come through Minas Tirith or Erech and suddently they stood in front of Dol Amroth and I was like wtf. They must have passed Pinnath Gelin, but I expected them there with 1 1/2 full stack.

I suggest you to read your lore again! Actually singular of Mumakil is Mûmak. Also there is no Uruk-Hais, it's always Uruk-Hai...

But then there isn't grey mountain mumaks >

I'd also suggest not enabling all units right from the start of the campaign. If you do so then you deserve to get pwned by trolls/mumakil/whatever high end unit you're talking about.

Fire arrows also work wonders on Mumakil.

Yes but he wasn't talking about mumakils if he did I would tell him to use javelins and fire arrows but since he is talking about trolls (never seen elves, dwarves or dale fight mumakils) I gave him troll related advice

But he used the word Mumak like 5 times and didn't use the word troll once. Also he claimed

    Its not lore realistic
So don't you think it's possible he is talking about Mumakil? I'm not saying he is, it just seems likely. We can only go on the info he gives us

In some campaigns, i've had to fight mumakils as SE & yes, even as Dale. Just cause you aint had it happen, doesnt mean someone else has not.

five units of elite archers can defeat one unit of mumakils. just focus your fire on them and you'll be fine.

Dude, he certainly means mumakil. It can happen that harad expands.

As said; Fire arrows and ballistas work quite well. The best weapons against them are javelins, though.

I find it very hard to believe that harad would expand so far. Never seen it in my campaigns but then again I tend to play the same way over and over again so the variatinon is little. I just recently tried to play a campaign completely different from what I used to play and it was freaky how things could change seeing Gondor expand and take 3 settlements on the eastern part of the river...

So if it is indeed mumakils my bad and yes use fire arrows and javelins...

And pin them in place with cavalry. Pikemen are no good as the Mumakil will just batter through them like a knife through butter. Cavalry however have some stopping power.

it could happend either if Gondor kicks Mordor but then get Harad in the side from the south. Or if Dale wipes Rhûn and then starts to fight Harad.

I like to use catapults too, since you quite easy can make them run rampage then. If they trample a few of their own while you have to put time killing them anyway it's just a good thing

Turn 30? I think you should take a look at what sub-mods you're using and any changes you've made to your game files because you've messed something up. There's no way you should be seeing Mumakil that early in the game under normal circumstances.

The actual quote in spanish would be "¡¡¡Hasta la victoria siempre!!!" so... "Hasta la Oliphants siempre"?? hahaha I liked that...

On topic: I guess it is a sub mod that makes all units available from the start and then an invasion took the Mumakils so high up north so early... As said, concentrate fire arrows on them (if you dont have siege equipment or javalins that is...)

    Saludos.

Alright, I think this is the most likely explanation. Still, (a) if it's due to a submod, the main forum is hardly the place to complain and (b) if it's only during an invasion, don't pretend it's a recurring problem.

That sounds to me as if there was something wrong with your game .

I'm sure I never saw any mumakil before turn 100 (more or less, don't remember that exactly) and they surely first will appear in Harad (they can't be produced elsewhere, so even if Harad conquers that much they still have to walk the way).

Are you using any submods? Have you disabled the barracks events?
