Default Interested in buying this game.

Saw something about this game in another thread so I looked it up, and the game seems pretty cool.

Can it be compared to another game? From what I can tell the battles are simulated, so it's kind of like the Total War games minus the rts aspect. Although the game seems to be a much larger scale. Is it more focused on economic building or is it a mix of war/politics/economy ,etc?

    Thanks for any insight.

This is far more grand strategy.

Battles are simply decided by dice-rolls (1-9), other modifiers such as terrain penalties and General Bonuses, aswell as unit stats and Land tech values. Really, aspects are all sorts. There's diplomacy, war, a fairly basic economic system (deeper than TW, but not that deep, even if it's confusing at first), and a colonial system.

There's also one major difference from Total War. TW is turn based. You send out your orders, push End Turn, and then everyone else sends out theirs. This is different. Essentially, it still is turn based, but the turns are so small that it's essentially real-time, as each turn is a single day (and the campaign spans for 400 years or so). These turns pass automatically, and you can alter the speed at which they pass from anywhere between very slowly, or very quickly, or you can simply pause it whenever you like.

It's a really great game if you ever wanted something deeper and more strategical than what TW's campaign map offers. I suggest you act quickly while the Steam sale is on, as everything up to HTTT is £5. HTTT is perfectly playable in every respect, and it'll really give you a great idea of wether or not it's a game for you. If you find it is, I suggest you have a bunch of HTTT games, and then once 5.1 comes out, jump over to Divine Wind.

Yeh it has an amazing diplomacy system (It blows the TW one out of the water). It covers the whole world, has scores of factions to choose from, a religion system, heir to the throne adds a really good holy roman empire system and all the things that musthavename mentioned as well. It covers a wide range of aspects- i'm sure you'll like it, as it is kinda addictive with all the empire building and whatnot.
