    It's all one book to me. If Tolkien got his way, it would never have been divided at all, so I choose the cop-out answer and say all three.

    I honestly couldn't say. My favourite chapter was probably the Council of Elrond, just 'cause you got a sense of lots of interesting stuff going on in exotic and faraway lands.

    Return of the king because Aragon gets to ride with other dudeuain Rangers; that was cool. I like Two Towers aswell, the part where the take over Isnguard and Suaroman wont come out of the Orthanac; and when the hobbits are eating salty pork and smoking, and Gimli is like" LET ME DOWN! I WANT TO JOIN THEM!"

    Have to say two towers, awesome read.

    Would of gone for fellowship of the ring, (which unlike the film equivelant actually intrigues me), but then i re-read the Tom Bombadil passage :/

    Isn't the Hobbit part of the Lord of the Rings as well since it serves as the prequel to the War of the Ring. I'd say the Hobbit is my favourite, followed by the Two Towers. I felt the Fellowship dragged a lot so that comes last. Also Moria is a lot more epic in the movies, games than in the book.

    I'd have to pick Return of the King, followed by the Fellowship of the Ring.

    If the poll would extend to all of Tolkien's works then I'd have to go with the Silmarillion hands down.

    Really? As happy (for lack of a better word) as i am that ive read it, id say its a terrible book. It would have been better if chris had edited it properly rather than just putting all his fathers notes together in a barely comprehensible slap of information.

    I fail to see how it's barely comprehensible? I've had no problems getting the overall pictures, that some of the lesser details might be a bit screwed up, is not Chris' fault, rather that Tolkien never got around to finishing it up.

    Well it didn't seem to "flow" at all to me. It jsut seemed like a collection of notes, not a book. Thats just my opinion about it though

    I like them all but I guess the Fellowship is my favorite. Tolkien actually makes Frodo and the other hobbits likeable, too bad PJ couldn't do the same.

    Only one i've read is the Hobbit, and that isn't on the list so, Boooo!

    The Record of Lodoss War, The Mother of all Epic High Fantasy stories.

    However, I'd say my favorite "Third" of the Book is the Return of the King. It ties everything together in a neat little package of awesome.
