    Default Grapeshot is broken.

    It's a nice idea, and I know that cannons were filled with miscellaneous sharp things during that period, but it just doesn't work in M2.

    The Timurids have arrived, and many of their stacks have two grand bombards in them. But they are useless. Yes, I know the AI is poor in siege, but I'm almost certain the problem lies in grapeshot. The AI isn't using normal cannon balls to attack my curtain walls, they're using grapeshot because the game sets that ability active at the start of the battle sometimes. So what happens then is the grand bombards march very close to the walls to use the short ranged grapeshot, and uselessly fires it at my walls, doing no damage. During this time they're picked off by archers and destroyed by cannon towers.

    If the AI could only choose between cannon balls and flaming cannon balls, they would almost certainly use them correctly, like they do with catapults and trebuchet. I suggest that ability be removed from the next version of SS.

    Anyways, I just did a little research and found out how to edit out grapeshot, and the AI is using bombards correctly now. For the most part. They focus way too much on the outer wall, but they do start shooting at the curtain walls eventually.

    the AI has... ammo issues... usually even with 4 arts, they won't shoot down your last wall... or even knock down your second wall... it's a matter of distance, obstacles, and ammo... and the AI can't adapt to that...

    They breached my last wall. Granted, they have four grand bombards which do enormous damage to walls, so they can really spread the love around.

    Certainly much better than them shooting nails and silverware at my 12 foot thick walls.

    it's a trick, i remember the AI using normal ammo(at least on catapults I've tested that) for walls, at the start of the game.... then they change to flaming once i engage them once w/ cavalry.... and I've won lots of 3 full stacks vs. 1 half stack(mine) fort battles ever since...

    yep, they get stupid with the flaming option, but hey, as long as you don't use cavalry on them, it's fine? i may be wrong though... (Infantry works, but they can't retreat like cavalry)
