Okay, so i use mcafee as my internet security software, and as far as i can tell its done fine. However, it causes my computer to really slow down, especially as it updates. I've had mcafee since i got my laptop, and have been reasonably pleased with it, except for the slowing down i just mentioned.

However, my subscription is coming up for renewal next month, and i'm rather short of money. I can't really afford the $69.99 that it costs.

So i guess this is an open question about free security software, i thought you guys might have a far better idea about whats good and not.
