Default Do you think the fotos have been edited?

A long time ago someone proved that the promotion pictures for RTW had indeed been edited or changed by messing with the game files to make it look better.
The first pictures for MTWII are taken in a resolution so high and with so much anti-aliasing that you can´t see any pixelation at all. There is something not looking right about the light in this picture, maybe its the fog:

The textures are unusually clear and crisp. Do you think they have tweaked the engine(beyond what a normal setting could do - messing with the game files) or done a bit of photoshopping?

Because it's highly highly likely and smart for a company to do that. And...they have done it before. Im no expert so I have no clue if they have, though it looks like it.

But maybe they are just making an amazing game!!

I'm slightly sceptical about the reflection on the breastplate (which I've circled)

Well they did say in the IGN interview that they have remade the engine completely.
I think the pics are real but naturally at a high setting.
While I doubt many people can run the game at that setting but still possible for some.

Edit: and as Archer said, that video of RTW was indeed completely CG and was never in-game shots that some people seem to think.
These however are not CG and does actually look like a improved RTW engine like they said they have done.

looks not faked to me. especially because the other knights have that reflection, too and like archer said it is easily achievable with the gloss files. for those who still don't believe that these screens are not edited should simply wait for the release

The pre-video of RTW was all CG movie, with pre-rendered faces and basically had nothing to do with the graphics in RTW.

IN opposite, these screenshots aren't pre-rendered cg-movie shots (just think of Toy Story). Notice the horse saddles, the ear of the horses, or just the edges on the solders showing that these units were built from polygons. compare to RTW, of course these models are higher polygon count units, and more textures added, but definetely not pre-rendered movie shots. So I'm happy for that.
I actually hope (following how the earliest in-game shots of RTW to the latest), that the graphics will develop even farther. I won't be suprised, if the final graphical detail at the releae of the game, will be even more impressive.

easily achieavable by gloss files. I can show you an example of my own modding.

    Seems I'm wrong then.

Which is under the circumstances, good news.

Guys come on, the game won't be released for another year, so all the pics are probably juiced up a little because the game is still in early development. For those thinking that the pics are to shiny looking and such, this is a next-gen game.

They said that they have been working on it for 6 years so it is hardly early development.

witch has GOT them to the idea of Medieval Total War 2. I dont know of any game that has been under anyones head for 6 years and doesent
even have a gameplay video, come now.

They could've photoshopped in some stirrups while they were at it.
All those debates about how classical cavalry couldn't charge home without stirrups and now that medieval times are revisited stirrups are still missing! Yee Gawds!

Yup, there's a leg disappearing into a horse on another knight, too. Clipping issues=ingame screenshots! :original:

I think Duke Nukem Forever fits that bill. Apparently been developing for 7 or so years now, and not a single screen or movie.

RTW has been in development since MTW was released, perhaps even earlier, and still they used pre-rendered CG shots in Rome's promotion.

im sure they didnt edit anything, becuase most companies claim that all thier screenshtos are directly from the game. But at the same time Im sure they are running the game at settings that no one here will be able to ( ultra high resolutions, every setting pumped up, etc.)

If they did photoshop it, they were a bit sloppy, because the knight on the right hand side has no legs.
