Icon12 LOTRO's depiction of Middle Earth

Hello guys, I am a humble history student and Tolkienist who is greatly enjoying TATW.

Nowadays I am playing as Eriador, and am struggling to transform it into Arnor.
But Annuminas is so not developing itself very well.
And because of that 'ú' part, I can't use cheat too. Bugger.
I am being frustrated by Isengard's strong heavy infantries, which my Erioadorian militias lack.

However, it is also understandable, thinking about how the Kingdom of Arnor became a shambling ruin because of Angmar.
Then I remembered the days I played the Lord of the Rings Online.

The Lake Evendim area was always such a wonder.
Especially Annuminas. That giant ruin was very melancholy, but at the same time so grand and nostalgic it gave me shivers to walk around it.

Suddenly I thought, it would be cool to incorporate LOTRO's designs and graphical portrayal of the Middle Earth to TATW!

Custom settlements were enabled by that wonderful new toolset, and hopefully Moria, Minas Tirith, and Hornburg will be depicted in the next version, if I am understanding correctly. And I wonder could that kind of thing be applied to other cities too, in campaign maps.

It would be kinda cool to give that feeling of LOTRO designs.
Even though I don't play LOTRO anymore, their depiction of the Middle Earth was so enchanting and charming,
and I thought it would be interesting to see such portrayal in TATW too.

    ps.

    I hate TROLLS

    ps.2.
I think it would have been cooler to have Kingdom of Angmar (resurrected)
than the Orcs of Gundabad, as did in LOTRO, to be the major evil faction near Eriador.

A lot of the time the creators have a lot of sources to work off, especially as the locations covered in the movies are the ones that are being made earliest as they have got us interested already. For places like Annuminas however LOTRO could be a good source for it. Maybe you could submit pictures on it to Dazo ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...416188&page=15 ) and leo.civil.uefs ( http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=413931 )
as well as to kk so that they'll have some more stuff to work off, especially for the more obscure locations.

Edit: Also I heard about a way to allow the add population cheat to work. If I find it I'll add the link to it for you as well.

Edit 2: 1 mission down 1 to go. I hope I find the way to let the cheat work but if not maybe just ask somewhere?

@Agamaran: The difference is that settlements are something that's actually being worked on at the moment. (For vanilla TATW, that is. AFAIK DaC is considering Angmar resurrection for its submod.) The custom settlement collection thread would be the obvious place to make such a suggestion.

Also, I think for the cheat you can use the region name. There's an alt+somenumber that works for ú but I don't remember which number.

As far as the cheat is concerned, you could try renaming the settlement and see if that works.

And as far as LotRo suggestions in TATW go, check out this post:

@Leonidas: NICE. I forgot to take screenshots near Annuminas, but your screenshots do elaborate on the details.

@Agamaran : Ah, I see you have already shared a sentiment similar to what I had in mind.

And as I skim through all those discussions, it seems 'Angmaran resurrection' thing is not considered nor accepted here by the team (and mr. King Kong)... Too bad, but after giving it some thought, I guess LOTRO had a lot of far-fetched presentations in some part....

Still, Angmar would have been waaaaay more interesting and sinister than the orcs of Gundabad.

I also read your arguments for the sake of Angmar on those discussions, which I found plausible and reasonable. I wish there are more people who agree on that matter.

@Barsoom : Region name!? I will definitely try that out. THNX.

    @mattttb : cntrl alt u? Really?

Yeah, I think it's really silly how everyone agrees to the reemergence of Arnor before the destruction of the One Ring and yet they would not agree to the logic that Sauron wouldn't restore Angmar to oppose Arnor once more. Angmar, as a faction, existed in Middle-earth mythos to directly oppose Arnor and was the very reason why it crumbled. With Arnor destroyed there was no reason to rebuild Angmar. I think the Orcs of Gundabad faction should be reworked to have a similar goal to "rebuilding" Angmar given that Arnor would present itself as a recognizable foe once more.

That would be a very cool idea. Then good and evil would each have a faction with the goal of rebuilding or transforming. And of course if you accomplish the goal of rebuilding Angmar, then the Witch-King has to join your faction.

Actually, now I think I should have just spent my time reading the previous topics and threads... I feel like I have said things that were said so many times before already.
