    Default Asus mother board help

I am in dire need of help.

Got a new computer. It's great, runs the TW games fantastically. Except there is a big problem.

Seemingly after a certain period of time, it isn't always consistent, the Computer will suddenly shut off.

No warnings no error messages. nothing.

But the weird part is that this only seemingly happens on the vanilla versions of games. i have played mods and some other programs for hours without a hitch.

And then went too play the vanilla and it with in 3-4 games it will go down.

Also weird is that after it goes down you cannot restart it for a certain period of time as it is supposed too, but you can get around this by swapping power cords.

I thought i would turn the power surge option off on the mother board, but it is still executing what i think too be a power surge shut off defense.

Any help would be appreciated! The mother board is an ASUS M4A785-M.

    Will rep for right answer!!!

True sounds like a PSU issue to me as well. Submit your full config so that we can know the PSU is right for it.

Is this the config you were looking for?

its either your PSU, or your computer is overheating, which explains the random shutoffs as well

you wouldnt be able to tell if your CPU was heating just by what you think your case is, mine has 7 fans and i still moniter CPU/GPU temp

I see. But i guess i struggle too see how it could be overheating. My last computer didn't overheat on the same games.

And this is a computer that is way ahead of it in virtually every aspect.

how do i monitor the Temp in game? And what temp is over the deep end?

depends on your CPU(thats what would cause the reboot) and to monitor, download speedfan run it, play a game for awhile and see what it says the temp is

For the love of everything good and holy in this world, change your power supply.

When you said DA series 600w, I first though "oh the Silverstone Decathlon. Old, but solid."

Then I thought "wait a minute, the only 600w Silverstone has is the Strider Plus, the DA is a 650w and up power supply."

Then you said it has three fans. I was like "lolwut, 3 fans? That don't make no sense. Google shall get to the bottom of this!"

My fears were confirmed. Diablotek PSDA 600w.

Seriously, any power supplies made by Diablotek are crappy. Your power supply is failing. Get a new one.

I see. It would make all the sense.

But this still leaves me with one question unanswered. Why is it crashing on the Vanilla games, but runs the Mod's four hours on end.

I have had the computer crash on empire total war, and Company of heroes on vanilla.

But i go over too modified games on Company of heroes it runs like a champ for hours on end.

I have alos had it run for long periods of time with sins of a solar empire.

What are the other specifications of your system? In particular the CPU, VGA, Windows version, HDD & RAM.
