    Hey all,

    I've been tooling around in the submods section; mixing and matching units and submods to my own liking. One thing I have really liked is the Enhanced Merc submod. This allows certain factions to recruit AOR units; depending on who they are. For instance Gondor can hire Sylvan elvish archers if they are in Mirkwood. Etc.

    I like the idea, but there are some questions and concerns involved.

    If Gondor CONQUERS Mirkwood from the sylvan elves, its doubtful they would be able to hire many mercs. Whereas if the Sylvans are wiped out and then the area is "liberated" by Gondor, they could probably recruit quite a few.

    Is it possible to allow Mercs to be hired based on campaign conditions; such as the Ally AOR script inside Empire? I would think this would have already been done with Dwarves / Dale if it could; but am not sure of scripting limitations.

    If this could be done, it might add a new, interesting feature to the game.

    I agree with you (as do many) that it would be nice to have more mercs. Also, I've thought it would be nice to modify the recruitment system so that it would be similar to the "Rome Total Realism" mod for RTW. In it you cannot train your factions units with another factions buildings. Instead IIRC you are eligible to recruit a few low level units of the previous faction. You only are allowed to build your units once you complete the "conversion" of the settlement.
