    Default Computer Crash playing games

Recent problem that I have no experience before.

When I play any game, doesnt matter, my computer will play it for maybe 10 minutes on average before causing the monitor to enter a Power Saving screen, completely going dark. A sound will also play which sounds like buzzing or like the game entered a loop. The only thing I can do is to manually shut off the computer.

I thought I solved it a couple days ago by underclocking my graphics card. Recently it was crashing while playing Victoria 2 but I just tried playing Call of Heroes Online and it did the same thing. So now I am thinking my graphics might fried or something. Am I right the the system may be overheating so the computer sends the screen into some power saving moment which causes the system to crash.

If I restart the computer too soon after the crash the monitor wont return.

    System info.
My computer is a Packard Bell iMedia.
Never bought a PB before and never will again... Sticking to Dells.

Anyway I tried underclocking for Victoria 2 and it fixed the prob, but apparently not for anything else.

I dont even know what caused this to begin with because I could run games stronger than both of these before without any problems.

    After only 10 minutes?

    Check your temps and voltages.

How can I do that... after alt tabbing from the game?

Around 10 minutes.. it took longer for Victoria but COH seems to be around 10-15 minutes.

Downloaded a tool to read my fans and my GPU is at 74 C, Temp1 at 29, Temp 2 at 37, Temp 3 at -35 and HDO at 36.

Forget that reading I downloaded Everest as well and that gives my CPU a temp of 40 C (104 F)

GeForce GT 220, Not sure what Fan Speed your asking for though... I am using Everest to find it. If there is another way tell me so were on the same page.

I am pretty sure it is a PCI-Express card.

Heres info on the graphics card.

I use Speedfan mostly but also have PC wizard installed along with Rivatuner.

I use Rivatuner for adjusting the fan on my 9800GT.

I have a Medieval2/Knigdoms mod going and in Speedfan, I could watch the gpu temp jump 10C while the game was loading on stock fan speed.

What should I look for on Speedfan? The GPU Temp reads at a 73 with M2TW in Alt-Tab mode.

    Says Fan1 1099 RPM Fan2 1301 but 2 is decreasing as I write this.

I'd say install Rivatuner, and manually adjust the fan to a noisy 100%, and see how much the temp in Speedfan drops, then try it on Victoria and see if you can go more than 10 minutes.

I went back into M2TW loaded a saved game and then exited by alt tab and the GPU was at 80 C, still is at 80 C now.

Didnt have a prob with Victoria after I underclocked... but Ill try it with COH.

Already ran into a problem with Riva... I dont think it is compatible with windows 7. When I try to load it, it gives me a warning saying it can not load the riva64.sys driver. I press OK. Then it ask if I want to disable driver signing, if I say yes it restarts which doesnt fix the problem... if I say no it takes me to the program which is prob where I can adjust the fan speeds but I dont know where to go to do that. I go to power user and it gives me a huge list to select from.

Speedfan already says Fan 1 and 2 are running at 100%... seems that wont fix the problem. Though I dont know what they were running at before I downloaded Speedfan. Maybe it increased the speed automatically?

Anyway if thats not the case what other methods can I try? Would opening the side of the Desktop help cool it down or will I need to buy a new fan or new graphics card or worse?

Open the side of the does not hurt. If you have a small desk fan, blow it on the card.

I will have to come summer.

Sorry, my last comment is about where I live with no aie conditioning.

It gets hot enough in the room it's in the side comes off and the gpu fan goes to 100%. I aolso have a small desk fan aimed right at the card.

Even when it's 105F outside, it keeps the gpu in the high 60sC.
