Default Improved/more realistic unit stats Submod (Available for version 2.1)

    Realistic unit stats submod

Hello, I edited my descr_unit file to add realism to third age total war. I edited the following.

    1. I added a charge increase to every elite cavalry unit (Cavalry is not powerful enough in vanilla, 6000 Rohirrim could break the ranks of 30,000 orcs in the books, now they're powerful and balanced).
    2. I added a bonus for fighting cavalry to every pike/halberd unit to counter act this and add realism.
    3. I added small increases to defense skill on certain units (e.g Gondor infantry) to improve their performance in battle according to how they're told to have fought in the books and small tweaks on some units armour.

The file is attached to this post, I suggest before you use this that you back up your descr_unit file just in case you want to change back. Please give it a try

NOTE: This IS save game compatible and it is ONLY compatible with Baron Samedi's compilation mod. It is not compatible with FROME or anything else.
If you want to download Baron Samedi's submod, the link is here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=390535
I HAVE JUST UPDATED THE FILE, it's now slightly improved.

    How to install this submod:
    1. Download the file attached to this post
    2. Copy and paste the file into the /mods/Third_Age/Data file, make sure that my file over writes your original one.
    3. Start the game back up and enjoy

Gondor armoured infantry is a bit underpowered!
All skirmishers and all archers are overpowered, especially Harad ones.
But troll should be more vulnerable to missiles.

What balance?Orcs huge armies week units(but is written they are stronger then man),humans medium, expensiv, poor stamina,if as arcers are godd week in melee-no time for training both,Elves best units in all but very expensiv, low number of population in cities, very small number in battalions, dwarvens best armor and stamina,no cavalry,120-100 in battalions.

I increased the defense skill of gondor infantry and gondor spearmen to deal with their lack of fighting skill, in the books it was written they fought very well and held the orcs back better then what was depicted in the movies

Edit: I may improve on balance even more later on, if I find anything that really needs to be balanced

It might be just me but, when I replaced the desc_units file and try to start it it crashes... so I replaced it with the back up one and it runs just fine... Any thoughts? I could not see any installation guide other than "replace the file" so... I might be missing something.
    Thank you in advance.

Unusual, I am using the exact same file and it runs perfectly, you just copy and paste my file into the data file, and make sure it replaces the existing one Btw thankyou for trying my mod.

Is it working alright for everybody else?

I am having the same issue. It starts, gets to the first loading tittle screen then crashes. I want to try this because I think people stress too much about accuracy and lore and focus on what they've seen in the movies a little too much. Its a game. Balancing is key. Weaknesses are made up but each factions strengths

Mm what mods are you using, if any? I am starting to think this may only be compatible with Baron Samedi's submod, seeing as I am using that.
    And yes balancing is important

Also, I have now added installation instructions in the first post to help some

Why couldn't you make the mod compatible with FRoME??? Something with the diffrent factions that are included??

Because it's a file with all of the units, FROME is different, it has different factions/unit rosters. I won't be making one for FROME unless I start using FROME myself xD
