Thread: System.log showing Missing files that are actually there

    I'm confused, i just checked my system.log file of Broken Crescent2.02 mod & although the files that its saying are 'missing' i'v checked & they'r there... & these script error things? what is this? can someone help me out??

    I'm playing fine so far but i'm really confused since i'm new to the system.log file..

    This is really wierd, even my system.log file of vanilla M2TW has the same missing stuff & script erros is this normal?? i hardly think so...

    1. Please spoiler long code like that (the exclamation mark in advanced mode)
    2. some it is actually missing: data/menu/text_border.tga.dds - that is due to the fact that the game first looks for the dds version and then for the tga one.
    3. As long as it says [warning] you are clear. A complete other matter is a line with [error] - that needs fixing as it might lead to crashes (if it hasn't already) Example:

    Tnkx for the reply sorry about the long code, but since i'm kind of noob to forums i had no idea how the spoiler thing can be done unill i read your reply, half of those options near the exclamation mark i never used & never checked what they'r for...

    It says all the error codes are from the EDB, the only thing i ever done in BC's edb was replacing all 'koj sergeant crossbowmen' with 'jerusalem longbowmen' just by pasting the unit name instead of the other between the brackets & i have been recruiting jerusalem longbowmen instead of the unwanted koj sergeant crossbowmen ever since now without probs, but the units mentioned in the code saying 'error' & 'doesn't match' which are 'aor trans nobles, aor armenian axmen & evy md crossbowmen', i never even touched them nor any other unit except those 2. Do u think the errors has something to do with the replacing 1 unit with the other?? even tho they'r not the same unit names? how can it be fixed??

    Great, started by checking the 1st of the 3 units, the 'aor armenian axemen' in the EDB & EDU & already found that evry aor armenian axemen's factions line codes in the EDB have some 16 & some 17 factions & the same unit in the EDU ownership (not the one 'custom' above) has only 3 So, even tho i never EVER touched this unit in any way, could the game create this error on its own? or created by some other modding i done?? even tho i didn't touch them.. or it might by any chance skipped the modders attention??

    the one on top 'custom' has mongols in the ownership which in all the line codes of aor armenian axemen in the EDB there is no mongols.. in the EDB in all aor armenian axemen's line codes some has 16 factions & some 17, is that normal for a unit in the EDB to have 16 & 17 instead of all 17 or all 16??
    & should i remove mongols from the one 'custom' above ??? sry for asking so many questions but this is getting pretty wierd..

    The errors are probably left overs from the previous modding.
    The error is caused when a unit is recuitable in the EDB by a faction, but this faction is not entered in the ownership line of that unit in the EDU. The error might have been caused by using a culture definition or the definition "all" instead of the faction definition (in the EDB).
    Synchronize the EDB faction requirement with the ownership line in the EDU.

    I took the liberty of color coding and correcting your entries, check the spoilers.

    Do not copy EDB faction entries into the EDU ownership line - this will make the unit available for the additional factions in custom battle and will result in crashes or at least 'silver surfers' (units without textures).

    Always adjust the EDB according to the entries in the EDU.

    The 2 unit codes of the same unit 'aor armenian axemen' are both in the EDU how u see them one over the other, the top one is 'custom' for custom battles, not just this unit but there's a bunch of units listed twice in the EDU of BC always with one of them custom, so i don't think i should just remove it all (the top one "custom'). Anyway i sticking to the one below..

    I should have waited for a reply cos i did it the other way round, copied & paste the faction entries of the EDB in the EDU but now that u tell me i will do it vice versa again, i'l copy poland, turks, england & paste them instead of the 17 factions in the unit's faction entries. However, although i didn it the other way round, in the system.log i don't have any errors anymore, just warnings.. But i'll do it how u told me to..

    You will not get error messages anymore as you removed the reason for the error. Unfortunately it will create other problems as I explained.

    I crossed out the "custom" unit as it didn't have any relevance to your problem, I didn't mean that you should delete the entry - sorry, my bad.

    I am somewhat puzzled why the unit gets entered again to start with: all the stats are identical. All that needed to be done was to add the era lines below the ownership line and all the factoins there. That way they would have only been available in custom battle to the multi factions. Example:

    Okay, I get it now.

    Actually, this is Gigantus who unwittingly has made a confusion. If you are not using gamegeek2's EDU, then you are using basic BC2.02 EDU, which doesn't have those inconsistencies Gigantus tried to show. But he is using gamegeek2's EDU, and he modified your posts accordingly to the info from gamegeek2's EDU, not the one you are using... So, you both are talking about two different files, and your log does not relate to gamegeek2's EDU in any way, if you are not using it.

    I don't know mate, thats what i'v been trying to find out.. Anyway , the good thing is that i have no more errors & all is well now tnkx to u guys

    Two things: this issue should have been posted in BC forum, and secondly one needs to be more precise and try to remember what changes to the base version one has made, before posting. Applying gamegeek2's EDU equals modifying BC2.02, because his EDU is being developed for BC3, not 2.02.

    sorry mate, not to contradict u but i'm 1000% that i didn't mix files, all i'v been playing BC is about 5 weeks , if i ever mixed files then how come there's the same thing on my backed up BC files which i backed up just days after i installed it? (as i always do), cos to be 100% i was comparing the files between those backed up & those installed, i just started my 1st armenian campaign just 3 days ago & i NEVER ever touched those 3 units nor even played with them for that matter, except the armenian nobles, & moreover i have no idea what is karaislam's submods package, or gamegeek2 Besides my Vanilla M2 tw+Kingdoms i have only Stainless Steel6.3 & Broken Crescent 2.02 installed.

    Anyway, what's more wierd i didn't have any crashes or anything & i didn't even notice those errors in the system.log, it was Gigantus who made me aware about the errors cos i only got curious about the missing files.. Tnkx to Gigantus i fixed the errors in the system.log

    of course , np mate yes i posted that from my EDB, Gigantus did indeed modified my post but as for have some 16 & some 17 factions & the same unit in the EDU ownership (not the one 'custom' above) has only 3 i copied that from my EDB. & i can tell u its not the only unit i found in the EDB with certain entries have 16 & others 17 factions,
