Icon10 TGW - Back in action!

Ok guys, we did go off the radar for a little while over the holidays and as mod leader, I claim all responsibility for not providing you, the fans, the updates and progress we should.

So now to prove we are 100% back in action, I'll give you this thread to show what we've been up to lately, and what you can be expecting in our next update!

    STARTPOS V2
    Info
It's almost here, I'v been spending all of my modding time finishing up work on Startpos V2, I'v made some extremely good progress and I'm close to giving it to our BETA testers for the first bit of testing!

It's hard to sum up what's different about V2. It's basicaly everything I'd wanted to make the first one to be, and alot alot more.
    • We're talking zero startpos related CTD's, a huge relief to many I'm sure, including myself.
    • Starting Armies! Yep, due to me actualy doing things properly this time around, there will be starting armies!
    • Hugely improved FOW (fog of war). We've all seen the bugs that don't let us select our own regions, well this is one thing I wanted to stop in this version, and you won't be disappointed.
    • Brand new faction selection screen, every faction available to you at a click of a button!
    • Much improved historical accuracy. Every region now belongs to who its meant to, we'll be having historical characters and more. Basicaly every that can be set as it was in WW1, will be.
    • AI, due to the way I'v created this Startpos, there will be no more embarrising AI.
    • Alliances will stick. This is a WW1 mod, and I'v had enough .. France will be declaring war on Britain no more!! That goes for every major alliance too.
    • Some very nice new features that will make your game more customisable and far more immersive!

    ASTHETICS
    Info
part of the team has been very hard at work creating some pretty epic changes to the uniforms.
We're talking our first batch of helmets and hats, German Picklehaubs and French Kepi's.
There's also some more very nice details added to the unifroms that you'll have to wait til ingame to fully appritiate.

Below are some very nice images for you to have a look at:

    LESS NAPOLEONISM
    Info
We agreed, as a whole team, that it is extremely important in coming updates that we remove all Napoleonishness from the game.
It's a WW1 mod after all, we don't want you guys feeling like this is a WW1 mod, we want you feeling like this a whole new WW1 game.
Future updates will hopefuly put you in this feeling. It's important that we begin to proffesionalize the mod, and thats what we plan to do!

    SCRIPTING
    Info
That's right, TGW is proud to say that it is the very first mod for TGW to fully utilize the possibilites of the game engine with scripting.

With the fantastic help and awsome work of Topcat, we're working on some extremely nice scripting that will create an altogether more rounded, customizable and immersive game experience!

We have many things planned and a fair bit completed so far, some of what to expect:
    • The USA in the campaign. Thats right even if we can't represent them on the map, the USA will be featuring in the campaign due to some extremely clever work done by our good friend Topcat.
    • The build up and outbreak of WW1. Although currently in the experimental phase, we've made very good progress in simulating the build up and causes and action of the start of WW1. This means a possible future campaign will set you off before WW1 even begins, you'll then be part of a europe that collapses into devistating war just as you'd imagine, allowing you to make your own choices to change the course of history itself. Thanks to Josst for this work being produced.
    • I don't want to spoil much more, but we have some very nice idea's floating around on how we will be adding altogether a whole load more depth to the game. Some event's and other things that will really put you into the feeling that your in the time period.

    MOD STABILITY
    Info
I'm well aware that the mod as it stands now is ridden with CTD's and many bugs. This causes a great deal of annoyance to the players, and it upsets us as modders that our work is not functioning how we'd have hoped.
As mod leader, and I know full well the rest of the team are onboard, when I say that we will be working extremely hard in future to not only make sure we erradicate the bugs present in the mod, but make sure it's stable in all future releases.

    A VERY NICE SURPRISE
    Info
We've all agreed as a team that only one person should be the one to give you this nice surprise, and it won't be me. I can't tell you when or how he will, but he will.
All I'll tell you is that it's not only very epic, but it really does put into perspective the potential this mod has in the future.

Thanks for reading, I hope your as excited as I am after reading what we've got coming up for you guys!

Question: When you mention removing Napoleon-ness, does that include getting rid of Bonaparte character in campaign, plus France being a republic and on defensive as it should be?

of course, that's all in startpos V2.

Serbia will indeed be there. When I said "Every region now belongs to who its meant to", I meant it.

Does this mean that it's possible to liberate Serbia to form Yugoslavia?

We are very limited in the amount of countries we can have on the map. It may well be the case that we simply run out of countries before we can implement a nation like Yugoslavia. Time will tell, and any countries we are left with will then be given to the nations who had the biggest effect on the world at that time.
