Can someone help me? my problem is...
    [i live in australia]

I've recently downloaded Napoleon total war and, for some reason, the multiplayer connection to everyone is terrible.
I fail to connect to host most of the time when i join someone, people struggle to join me when i host, when i type in pregame lobby it has a delay of about 2 seconds and when i acctualy try to move ingame there is a delay of about 3-4 seconds

Now, i have all the other Total war games apart from shogun and all the multiplayers on them run smoothly.

Things i have done to try and help but to no avail:
    Port fowarding
    Lowing graphics
    Turning off anti virus
    Updating GFX drivers

My computer specs are perfectly fine to run this game, and i have cable (6mb/s+) so it's not either of those.

Can someone please help? i really want to play online

yep im in brisbane and have no issues so something going on - what virus protection do you have - if norton 360 - you can set a rule to enable most inbound and outbound protocol - i think the problem with steam and lag is that you find a game in lobby and who ever joins you have to be able to share a connection between each other PCs - so alot of people pcs drop packets because some of the protocols are blocked by default - ive never found the port forwarding very helpful but when i opened up lots of the protocols - it started to worked really well and i had no dropped packets and can join all games hosted. i m not worried about any security issues as norton still monitors stuff and i really have nothing of any great importance to lose - so a format and rebuild doesnt take long if things went pearshaped. but you may wish to be more security orientated.

The machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire. Their war to exterminate mankind had raged for decades, but the final battle would not be fought in the future. It would be fought here, in our present. Tonight...

Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

i have eset smart security - i disable everything on it and still no success.
do you know of any other ways to fix the issue with steam?
or can you post what you mean by enabling packets with smart security? is there a way to do that? could that be it?
as i said i have all the other TW games on steam and they work fine.

Steam isn't the problem, it's only used for the game list; the actual game is peer to peer.
What ports do you have forwarded? I think they established a new one for NTW (51914 UDP), but it falls back on the Steam ones if that fails (27000-27015 UDP and 27020-27050 TCP).

    I have fowarded 27000-30000 47000-48000 6500 - 6700 4380 and 49181

For what we have in australia it's a fair bit, cable ranges from 4-28mb/s depending on how many people are tapping into the line etc.

but 6mb/s average should be plenty to run a game online... hell, 1mb/s would be enough to run just a game online without lag.

I can't do this due to the fact that i have cable and to change my modem i would have to ring my isp and get them to send me another one... i highly doubt this would work anyway considering other TW games are fine and they use P2P connections as well
