I need urgent help!!!!!!!!!

Ok ive installed this for the 5th time and im not tech savvy i always get this stupid "Failed to read chat filter san censory word docx" or something like that and i just want to play it so bad HELP!!!! FIX THIS

well you got alexander total war? maybe try redownloading, you should install 2.0 then 2.08c

Please, a bit of respect. Do not insult people in this forum, even more to people that was trying to help in a proper way. With such comment you have lost most chances that other people help you.

The error you comment is very common, and it is caused by wrong installation, so it is your fault.
Here they appear people asking about mods other than lotr-tw, or people who did not know this mod needs alexander, or people who do not know patch 2.08 needs to install 2.0 first, and those are the main causes of the error you comment... so the answer of Wulfburk was appropriate.

I use to answer questions no matter how many times they were asked, but this time I suggest you to read the readme and to search this forum for previous answers.

How is patching it going to make the freaking game work?

Well, I might go out on a limb and point out that the purpose of a patch is usually to make the game work.

Anyhow, I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to run the Lord of the Rings: Total War mod. I've patched Rome (1.3 & 1.5) and Alexander doesn't seem to need a patch, but I'm still getting the message. I don't know if this means anything, but I noticed that the game complains about not being able to read "data\\chat_filter.cab", with two slashes. Perhaps it's looking for the file in the wrong place? Also, to be even less informed than my counterpart here, what precisely are you referring to when you talk about 2.0 and 2.08?

2.0 is the full lotr tw, 2.08c is the latest lotr tw patch

Alexander is 1.9, you can check it by executing alexander and going on options, the version number is shown on top right, but bardo can help you more, as i have no clue of what is causing that besides wrong instalation

As I said, if the game do not find the chat_filter, it uses to be because you did not install the 2.0 in the main folder, where both RomeTW.exe and RomeTW-ALX.exe are placed.
