Any way to play Ireland?

So I'm playing 6.1 because Ireland is my absolute favorite country to play, but I really want to try 6.4! Is there any way to play as Ireland?

You can even change your faction name to the Kingdom of Ireland with zero modding! But somehow I don't think that's what you want.

I had a happy when Timurids got added in their place. I always played England before and all Ireland would do is send a small stack to Caernarvon and move onto shore then get back into their boats in the same turn. EVERY. SINGLE. TURN.

They did that in my campaigns too, but then, i started playing them, problem solved.

I would definitely play a mod that adds Ireland in the newer SS versions.
Was there like no way to make Ireland be more active ? (i kinda doubt that, but anyhow ...it's all in the past now)

A land bridge to scotland would have helped ALOT.The problem was, the AI is stupid at naval invasions.(And everything else ).

Yay for honesty! +rep for that. I take it you don't feel any brotherly love for the Scots? When I craved to play Ireland since moving on from 6.1 I changed Inverness to city and sold off cities in Scotland and got Capitol to revolt so started with just 2 regions(took about 12 turns to do all that)

The only times I've had fun starting in the isles is either start as England from Caen only or start as Ireland with Scots.

I dont play as the Scots much, cos they can't run unless you put a deep fried mars bar in front of them.Thats why they use pikes because they're lazy

And for a fun England game, don't use longbows as England
For Scotland game, no Pikes

Irish people kicked a lot of asses of my vikings through whole game while I was playing as Norway.

Well, I don't want to start a debate on Ireland but the reasons why it was removed it's the AI were so numb when they were controlling that faction. 1/10 times, Ireland will maybe go outside his island and do some action. Secondly, they didn't do an important impact on international in the Middle Age compares to some other factions that were not in game unless with submod. Thirdly, there was too many factions for the number of regions in British Isles. Fourth, an issue of balance in the Middle East as well adding new units. But it's not impossible to bring it back in SS. I could take care of that project.
