Yeah that documentary really gave me the lust to play as Vlad and fight the Ottomans. The story itself is almost like a fairytale. Its the perfect scenario.

A great source on Vlad. As he is my favorite character from all of the Medieval era (along with Reynald de Chantillion. Yes, I like the villians

That video leaves a good deal of things out. For example, Vlad and his younger brother Radu "The Handsome" were sent away to Adrianople as hostages to the Ottomans. Wallachia was a Hungarian vassal state, and its goal throughout the late Medieval era tended to be trying to make friends with both the Hungarians and the Ottomans. That was pretty difficult. Vlad's father, also Vlad, had been a famous Crusader in the Order of the Dragon, so much so that he recieved such an epithet. The Wallachian word for "Dragon" is "Drac". Vlad II's son, Vlad Tepes, was known originally due to his famed father. Since he was the middle child, with older brother Mircea who was being groomed as heir, and probably not expected to be much, he recieved the sobriquet "Son of the Dragon", or "Draculae".

In 1436, Vlad II, the military governor of Transylvania, overthrew and killed the Danesti (the rival noble family) prince, installing himself as Prince of Wallachia (remember, Wallachia was a principality, not a kingdom, so its ruler is actually a prince). In 1442, the Ottomans invaded Transylvania. Afraid of Ottoman power, Vlad II remained neutral. The Ottomans lost, and John Hunyadi of Hungary, a generalissimo, ousted Vlad II, putting a Danesti on the throne. Later, in 1444, the Ottomans again installed Vlad II on the Wallachian throne. Wallachia then paid tribute to the Ottomans. To ensure goodwill, Vlad II sent his two youngest sons to be educated in Adrianople...

Vlad Tepes, born in 1431, was sent at the age of 13, as I have said, to be a foreign hostage. Vlad despised the Ottomans, and his teachers and caretakers grew to despise him as well. Radu, however, embraced eastern culture and would later convert to Islam. In 1447, Vlad II and Mircea were assassinated by Boyars backed by the Danesti clan and John Hunyadi. Shortly afterwards, the Ottomans quickly gave Vlad Tepes an Ottoman army and won the Wallachia throne. However, in 1448 John Hunyadi again drove Vlad III out of Wallachia and put another Danesti on the throne. Yes, a LOT of coups, a LOT of assassinations. Vlad Tepes lived in various places for eight years, namely with his cousin, the Prince of Moldovia. Strangely, Vladislov II, the new Danesti prince, became pro-Turkish. John Hunyadi made a plan with his former rival, Vlad Tepes, to defea the Ottomans in Europe. Vlad would, with a Hungarian army, overthrow Vladislov and become Prince, provided he be anti-Ottoman. Hunyadi would take a larger army and try to take Serbia. Vlad was successful and killed Vladislov; Hunyadi lost and died at the battle of Belgrade...

That should be a nice taste of historical research, especially of how Vlad came to the throne

The best thing was in Tara Romaneasca regonized as Wallachia,is,we resist at attacks of ottomans&hungary,both of them wanted to get our terrain(if i can say)but we "send them back"(IN PIECES).When Alexandru Ioan Cuza finish to reunite the all four regions(in 1800' or 174.. i forget the date)by the way,as I can say,i know a lot about my country and a people can know a little of his country if he had a little IQ)

On the mod i made another 2 symbols for the Transylvania and Dobrogea,respective reskinned(or improved)symbols of Wallachia and Moldavia

I too am Romanian, and proud of it too.

Nice attempt at a mod here, but unfortunately we had little influence in the mid medieval ages. We did came into prominence in late medieval ages and even became the resembled a country in years such as 1600. As much as i love my country i think that there is little chance that it'll be successful or popular. Don't wanna be a party breaker, just that there's a lot of great history out there, there's no reason to think we're better.
