Domus Gotenii
As you look at the house, you know that the family is well off. The house is in a well conditioned state, kept by the house staff. If you were to walk through the thin, decorative gate, you would see the outer court, a front yard of sorts. There is a pond full of fish, a bust of Mercury, and many other decorative meaningless things. If you were to walk to the ornate door and knock on it, a servant would answer, gladly taking you inside if you were expected. You would see a simple, yet somehow sophisticated interior.
Lucius would come and greet you, and you might talk about various things, possibly family histories. He might mention how his family is very prominent in Rome, being outstanding businessmen. His lineage has had many senators in it, but none have been so prominent as he would hope to become. He has a good intuition concerning money, but this does not mean his abilities are lacking when it comes to the sword.
He is generally neutral, while he attains any facts necessary, and then may take a side. He can be very persuasive, and enjoys the finer points of verbal fencing. Currently, he hopes to establish himself firmly as a good senator, and then move upwards from there.

Ah! Please, allow the senator into the room!
A servant takes Gaius into a simple room, books on the shelves, a desk against a wall. The room is a study. Lucius enters.
Hello! I should hope you were well treated upon entering the grounds?

Re: Domus Gotenii
That free time may end when you are elected consul, I'm certain. All is well with me and mine. Is there something specific you wanted to speak about?

Re: Domus Gotenii
Yes, actually. I wish to ask you about your take on the state of affairs. I want whats best for the republic, and unlike many other Senators, i would like to know what my colleagues feel is needing of change. How do you think we should proceed with things as they are?

I am sure that the situation will eventually be taken care of in Spain and in Carthage. But I have a feeling that the Macedonians will soon attack our city in Greece. I say we take the offensive and subdue them while we can. They will only grow stronger. Everybody is preoccupied with Spain and Carthage however.

A messenger boy arrives at the villa.
I would be pleased if you would join me tonight for dinner. We will be joined by the new Seantor, Longus.
Regards,
Gaius Cassius Caudex

Re: Domus Gotenii
Yes Praetor, there is. On behalf of my family i would like to first apologize for my brother's behavior of late. If i know him as well as i did, his passions got the better of him...not made much more rational of course by his wine consumption.
Now, for business. These senators...you i know are not like them. You mind your words, waiting for appropriate times to speak. more observant then the rest. Not something i personally am known for Constantinus smiled wryly...at least the young senator was aware of his faultsNow it would appear the senate no longer trusts my family's name. Might i ask you for your input on why this may be so? My brother conducted an Illegal war in spain yes, but war cannot be bound by rules and regulation can it? Tingi was going to far. But to call him a tyrant and a traitor for taking Gadir? It is ridiculous. i know my brother praetor...not once had he wanted to harm the republic. Although i wouldnt have put it past him to march back to Rome with his legion and had his chief centurion throw Poplicola down the senate steps...
Constantinus laughed slightly at his last remark...awkwardly...Though he was much different he thought, it seemed as though his brother's legacy shall be a challenge he would have to overcome. Already he was shot down by the Censor..he knew why his brother despised Poplicola...but he would not make the same rash mistakes like before..
