I'm now officially a minister, does that mean I can condemn everyone who disagrees with me to hell? As of this morning I am a minister in the "Universal Life Church" which is for all intents and purposes a real religious organization. Many, but not all, religious people listen to their own church's religious figures as if they have a direct connexion with god, and are thus unquestionable. Since I myself am now a minister, does this mean that I have some sort of divine authority now backing up my personal beliefs - bigoted or not, or am I simply another jerk using religion to push my beliefs on others?
Other Info:
Obviously I am not going to use ministerial powers to advance myself (In fact I was given the suggestion to apply to the ULC by a friend of mine who is himself a very pious Franciscan as he believed I could use it to aide others) But I am curious whether people believe my simply becoming a minister magically gives my statements on morality an "unquestionable" status as is often accorded to the proclamations of religious teachers.
