Default Historical comic samples,"Vasco"," Ramiro", "The Rollo's Blood"

First, "Vasco" by Gilles Chaillet, extract from "The Gold and the Iron"
This cartoon is about a young man, Vasco, a Sienna's burger. He have to go in many parts of Europa to represent the financial interests of his Oncle, Tolomei.
In this tome, he becomed friend with Cola di Rienzo. The Vasco's life is a fiction, but many events, wears, heraldry...are historicals.
So look, a battle between the "Populo Minuto"(poors and non-patricians burgers) against the Nobles of Rome, the Colonna and the Orsini families and servants.

The two enemies, Orsini(left) and Colona(right), unified to fight the Roman "freedom"

The triumph of Rienzo before his fail...

Others pics are disponibles on my Imageshack, if you are interested.
The next will be "Ramiro", by W.Wance. Its about the early medieval Spain. I would that more people know this comics...

Interesting. So, are these historical comics for educational purposes, or are they just available to the general public in France?
("sous les voutes du batistere de saint-jean-de..." line leads me to think this is French...)

    Happy that you like^^

"they just available to the general public in France"
"Vasco" is for adult also, but that could be good for a young adolescent who like the 14 century. Isn't to hard(no rape scene, blood is moderated...), just the characters are very tortuous, I like that.

I'm shearching if this three comics(no "cartoon" sorry lol), are availables in english. You are right, I'm french speaker^^

"Ramiro" is more for adult, its created by the famous Vance(XIII, Blueberry)

The last sample about the normans, "The Rollo's Blood", had been used in France by some professors, as illustration references!! Essentially in Normandie this comic was distributed. All the authors and consultants are normans too , you will see that.

How is this good again? Haha I kid, looks pretty cool. Kind of like the Sword of Valiant comic(or whatever it was called, they made a bad movie in the 80's) I used to read in the paper.

"How is this good again", yes my friend, you will see that with your children.
For an adult guy(or lady^^) who like the TRUE Renaissance style(blood, trahison and sex), I think this comic is really better:
His opus about the Borgia family is one of my favourite comics, I will use that for the future reskinning about the Renaissance's Romans(the last turns of the game, Swiss Guard, Pertuisane Milicias...)

Eh I think anyone who hasn't been desensitized by now has had their eyes closed their whole life. In order for anything to be entertaining anymore it needs all the grit and dirt that belong with it. Plus its just plain incorrect without it.

I don't know exactly the TWC rules... this sample of "the Borgia family" is very soft. There are many scenes very gore^^. But it was the reality, Borgia family was one of the worth corrupted/corrupting band of the history.
Well I remove the link for the Borgias, if you are shocked my friend, I respect your sensibilty...But this comic have a true historical interest, isn't just sex and violence.

Like the Bush family only with more class. I always find it funny how brutal the times were and yet they all were so religious. Actually the U.S. is in the same position, darn. Anyways Ill look up the comics and give them a read if possible.

Thanks mate, had you yet seen some heraldry about the glass blowers from Murano?
    Or other Arti?
I don't know all the Arti/association of artisans from Venexa, but I think these glass blowers had been really powerfull as social organisation.
Correct me if I'm not right.

In Venice the "corporations" were different from those of most European cities. They didn't have any political clout, and were kept under close surveillance by magistature (born just to check their work).
The only art that could work freely were the glass makers, weavers and silk merchants.

The heraldic used by these crafts were a bit different from the classic one:

    Weavers:

    Builders of ship's rowing (Reméri):

The glassmakers of Murano had a coat of arms in common, except the symbol of the island:

In fact, they had a symbol for each furnace. I managed to find the 4 most important:

The Three Sirens (le trè Sirene)

    The Cone (la Pìgna)

Two golden blacks (i due mòri d'òro)

The golden chalice (il càlice d'òro)

Despite this, I can't find many pictures, because there are only descriptions

Instead, I found many symbols of the noble Venetian families. I post them if you need
