Default Oh my god, the tri-monthly curse.

Every three months, I have my computer serviced. I have norton, I have Broadband, I use my computer wisely but it always does this.

    Symptoms:
    • Surfing the web takes much longer, and pages don't load for a very long time.
    • All games, RTW, ect... run intensely slow, and laggy.

If it were just the computer apps, and not the internet I would be less worried, but it's the internet, opening files, going through my hard drive, internet, games EVERYTHING.

    Any tips?

You expect for norton to have any effect? Download knoppix. If that runs okay, then it is a software problem. Undertake proper anti-virus activity.

What are your specs? Have you defragged lately? What about reinstalling the OS?

Have you scanned for spyware, adware and viruses?

Get spybot, get Adaware, get some other program, get AVG anti-virus (its free for gods sake).
Defrag your hard drive, check your hard drive for errors as well.

You get it serviced by who?

If you continualy have problems with your computer it may be worth, instead of forking out for it to be serviced, a complete reformat of your hard drive?

Alternatively as others say, try the various anti-spyware programs

i would say your problem is norton. norton is described by many (including myself) as a virus, and more annoying and damaging than the "real" viruses out there. at least with those ones, you dont have to pay for them. it takes over your system far too much and causes slowdowns amongst other problems.
get rid of it and use this combination: spybot, spyblaster, avast, ad-aware. all are free, and dont clog up your system.

4 things I do to stay out of harms way:

    - periodic virus scan and scans of everything going in and out via mail, memory sticks etc..
    - remove spy ware
    - firewall
    - separate PC for internet.

Some people might call me paranoid. That may be so, but, that doesn't mean the whole world isn't out to get me!

I found it. It was a process called "System" not, "System Idle Process" just "System" I close it, and CPU cools down. But now I have a sound problem, reffer to other thread by me in this forum.
