Default Is the homo sapiens a kind of cancer for the 3rd planet?

I guess there are no other hot-contenders for the title of being "The tempotary top-cancer-leeches of the 3rd planet (and many of it's non-homo-sapiens species)"!

Oh.. I'm in a destructive, but at the same time constructive phase at the moment.

    Ciao!

Knowledge leads to newfound problems. I would not call humanity a cancer, as much as a new bacteria, which when combined with a planet host provides some improvements along with a natural toxicity. It remains to be seen if a stasis will be reached.

Let's just hope they were fascist communist kittens who were on their way to international fascist communist fair.

I was thinking in terms of personal, heart-felt emotions here - not scientific reasoning. Sry, was maybe somewhat wage in the 1. post!

If we can be certain of anything it's that life on Earth is tough. Humanity could truly attempt to wipe out life on Earth and only manage to change it. Take oxygen producing plants, for example. Oxygen was toxic as hell to early life. Absolutely murderous. Even worse? Oxygen is corrosive and flammable. Its in you right now, eating away at your lungs. And life survived the onslaught of oxygen. Humanity isn't destructive, not in comparison, and not even in actuality.

Humans are going to be long gone before all life on Earth is gone. That's just a stupid human-centric theory.

If humans are cancerous then so is all life, just of a generally weaker variety. We all give and take from our environment...

Nah the planet has been through far worse.

Human beings are the reproductive organs of the single organism that is Earth.

Humans are going to spread life to other planets long after the Earth is gone.

Nope. Chances are that a horrible war due to overpopulation will destroy our civilization long before we get the chance to populate other planets.

If humans survived the 20th century (and even more amazingly avoided war in the second half of it) then I think they will be ready to overcome whatever the future has in store.

Overpopulation won't cause war. Overpopulation will guarantee our survival. Overpopulation will make space colonisation economically viable and desireable. Besides, the western world has a declining population. It's only the third world that has extreme population growth and once they develop they will have a stabler population.

Some of your descendants will be living on a terraformed mars and venus.

Consider what how sad it would be if evolution on Earth had never produced humans, or something akin to human intelligence. If nothing came along to that could actually discover, understand, and explore the universe. As wonderful as life on earth is, it would be like an art gallery in a world of the blind without humans.

If we can last another 100 years or so we may get the opportunity live on Mars and other places in the solar system, once we're in space we will be set to last for countless millions of years.

I'm not sure how you would even start terraforming Venus, anything you could send down there would melt.
