I've been playing as a random since i started on NTW but i've finally had enough. I don't pretend to be the finest player in the world (i have a habit of giving orders to the wrong units etc and i still haven't won a game against the Ottomans), but feel like i'm crying out for good team mates. I prefer team battles to 1v1 because i like the scale of the battles and the team dynamic, but i've played 3 frustrating games today. The first on grassy flats was 3v3 and we were well beaten by the Lita clan who used some unusual tactics and that's fair enough. The 2nd on Spanish Lakeside i was a bit concerned when i saw my teammates set up (ie back of the map) there was max 2 art so taking or at least contesting the hill was going to be really important. He claimed the hill was their strongest point and he was going to stay back. Sure enough, our opponents marched on to the top of the hill, parked their howitzers and started blasting the hell out of us. I said i'd had enough and wanted to attack and asked him to support me. He said ok and then did nothing except send forward 1 silesian schutzen. I did quite well attacking but eventually my exhausted men got surrounded and defeated by the Ottoman/Spanish army while he just sat there. The last game was a 3v3 on grassy against HM. Both my teammates were low on lights but that's their choice, but the guy in the middle moved forward a token amount then stopped and wouldn't move any further. As myself and the other player had moved past him we were begging him to support us as we were both being double teamed. He did nothing, just sat and watched for a bit moved a bit of cav round his rear then quit. Then the other teammate quit too. Arrgghh.
Why even play if you have such a negative attitude. What's the point? Why not back up your allies? I'm sure the HM guys would have beated us anyway as their a damn fine clan, but tonight in both games it felt like the battle was lost before it had even started.
I've played along side some great randoms and i know i've let my allies down at times making silly mistakes (not realising that grenadiers could form square was a classic). I'm not saying i'm perfect at all, but i want to feel like i've been part of a real contest. Any clan advice would be greatly appreciated.
