Dismounted french archers?

I've already gotten lots of good answers here, thanks.

This time I'm wondering where I can recruit dismounted french archers. I cant seem to find a building that will get me those guys. (It's not that big a deal, I just picked france to try out the scots guard, but I like to try out every unit in a faction, while I'm at it.)

So, am I missing something, or is this another unit that is just available in custom battles, and not in campaign, like the english armoured sergeants?

They can be recruited from the military academy buildings. Military Academy and Royal Officers Academy. You can only build these in a huge city though.

You can use the building browser to browse through what units are available to particular building levels. You are also able to preview the units stats through it.

Only available in custom battles. They are disabled in the campaign. You can ''unlock'' them by altering some things in a certain game file, but i can't help you on this.

They are not available in Vanilla M2TW,, you can add them by unpacking your game files.. In Data . you will find the export_desrc_buildings.txt - it lists every building available, and then units recruited from the buildings / or abilities of the buildings that do not recruit units/characters.

You will find that french mounted archers are recruited from a Military academy (i believe).. you must look up the 'official' name of dismounted french archers in the export_desrc_unit.txt (more than likely it will be dismounted french archers, but some units have a different name -- like unhorsed knights, are called 'dismounted crusader knights' in the game dictionary),, then you must add a recruit line for the dismounted archers.
Basically you can just copy the same line as "French mounted archers", then change the name to what the dismounted version is officially named.

It would look like something like this in the file..
