You need to know the name\label of the character that went off-map.![]()
Use the give_trait command, check it out in docudemons.
it should be possible as long as it has a label or name (like ishan said)

why the past leader?
if he isn't leader you can just give the title to someone else...

because I am recreating historical families and in turbulent years living people would get abdicated in favour of sons, brothers, cousins, nephews and usurpers alike.

Can't it just be added to descr_strat?
Would make life way easier as the character-in-question has about 4~6 (bloodline) traits to be added (upon his children get it). It would be even better if it is possible to either add traits to under-aged children or dead people?
If it doesn't work to assign traits to inherently off_map characters, try creating him on the stage, with all the traits, and then sending him off map.
yea, you can even send a character at turn 0 (right when the game starts)

So,
I would make the guy alive (he is supposed to be dead) with all the required traits, then I script-kill him?
How do I do that (killing by script)?
The character-in-question has two under-aged boys, who should have some of their father's bloodline traits on coming of age. If I keep him alive and then script_kill him, would they have the above mentioned traits on coming of age?
It should be for every faction, not just the FactionIsLocal (so it has to be scripted for every faction)...

Yes I think the only solution you have would be to create the character, give traits, then kill him off. You wouldn't even have to send him off-screen. Or, you could create him, give traits and then send off-screen -- either way he wouldn't be controllable.
Maybe this works:

Hmm... if he is dead, and in the family tree, there would be no way you could see his traits anyway. So either he's with traits, and alive, or without traits and dead.
